We are seeking an experienced Senior Inspector - Bridge Deck Replacement to support a bridge deck replacement project in the Marshall, VA area. This role is responsible for ensuring construction activities meet contract requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations.
Responsibilities:
� Oversee and inspect bridge deck replacement activities, demolition, reinforcement steel installation, approach slabs/parapet walls, and deck concrete placement
� Monitor demolition of the existing bridge deck and verify compliance with approved safety and environmental procedures
� Conduct daily field inspections to ensure adherence to project plans, specifications, and applicable codes
� Prepare and maintain detailed daily inspection reports and site diaries documenting crew activities, equipment usage, work progress, and weather conditions
� Perform on-site quality assurance and quality control inspections to verify materials, workmanship, and compliance with contract requirements
� Coordinate with contractors, project managers, and engineers to address field issues and resolve construction challenges in real time
� Lead or participate in progress meetings, safety briefings, and coordination meetings with stakeholders
� Review and verify completed work for accuracy
� Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports summarizing construction status, schedule updates, and key milestones
� Document and distribute meeting minutes, including pre-construction meetings and project coordination sessions
� Track project schedule and identify potential delays or conflicts, providing recommendations for corrective action
� Assist with material testing coordination and review of test results
� Support final inspections and project closeout documentation
� Proficient with AWP, iPad/Plangrid/Procore and other standard programs used by VDOT
Qualifications:
� Must have significant experience in bridge and roadway construction inspection
� Must be current with the following certifications or the ability to obtain:
� ACI
� Hydraulic Cement Concrete Field - VDOT
� Soils and Aggregate - VDOT
� ESC Inspector - DEQ
� SWM Inspector - DEQ
� Pavement Marking - VDOT
� Intermediate Work Zone - VDOT
� Flagger - VDOT
� Guardrail Installation (GRIT) - VDOT
� Asphalt Field Levels I and II - VDOT
� Slurry Surfacing - VDOT
� Surface Treatment - VDOT
� 10-hour OSHA Safety
� High school diploma or GED
� Experience operating computer equipment, software programs, Microsoft Office Suite, and field-testing equipment.
� Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
� Must be able and willing to work, days and nightshifts.
� Able to pass criminal background check.
