Summary
The Rail Quality Control Inspector's primary role and responsibility is to ensure our customer receives a quality product provided by a quality service via a thorough and accurate pre-delivery and/or final vehicle inspection.
Responsibilities
  • Perform Rail audits on new vehicle
    • Must be able to audit the quality of all GLOVIS services and have the ability to detect minor vehicle issues while climbing
    • Must have good color vision
    • Inspect cars using GPQMS Audit App, specialized camera, and/or check sheets
    • Properly document results of the inspection and take pictures of non-conforming items
    • Must be truthful when recording results of inspections
    • Alert Supervisor/Manager of quality concerns immediately
    • Provide feedback to resolve compliance issues
  • Audit employee compliance
    • Audit employee compliance with standardized processes, procedures, bulletins, and work instructions
    • Assist with creating and monitoring corrective actions and countermeasures
    • Provide input on how to correct known issues within various departments
  • Assist with the development of audit strategies
    • Assist with training of new staff on quality inspections
    • Assist with development and implementation of audit strategies, audit related policies and procedures, and assessment schedules
  • Communicate the status of unresolved quality issues
    • Alert Supervisor/Manager of quality concerns that are found during inspection process immediately
    • Notify Supervisor/Manager if units flagged for defects are not repaired in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned
