Job description

Location: Prior Lake, Minnesota
Reports to: Quality Control Manager
Collaborates with: All Departments
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 3:00PM-1:30AM
Primary Responsibility: This position is responsible for product quality of the complete MIRATECH product line in the Prior Lake, MN facility
What You'll Do:
  • Dimensional Inspection to verify the product matches the sales drawing. This inspection would include but not limited to the following.
  • Diameter, Overall Length, Nozzle Projection, Nozzle Orientation, Test Ports, Couplings, Drains, Etc.
  • Weld Inspection to verify all welding meets or exceeds the weld details on the fabrication drawings. This inspection would include but not limited to.
  • Weld Profile, Weld Size, Weld Length, Porosity, Cracks, Undercut, Inclusions, Excessive Spatter, Etc.
  • Visual Inspection to verify that the finished product meets the overall standards of MIRATECH. This inspection would include but not limited to the following.
  • Paint Defects, Deformation, Defects, Tagging, Labeling, Etc.
  • Labeling / Tagging - verify that all the products all labeled, marked, or tagged with the correct job number and stock code.
  • Maintain job travelers in job packets, inspection reports, test and quality checks.
  • Report any defects, issues, or non-conformities to the Quality Control Manager.
  • Assist with 3rd Party Inspections that are coordinated through the Quality Control Manager.
  • Inspect raw materials in the Non-Conformance Department to verify the following match the Material Traceability Report (MTR) provided by the vendor;
  • Thickness, Specification, Grade, Heat Number, Slab Number, Etc.
  • Calibrate inspection and testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Ensure that all safety standards are adhered to during inspections and testing.
  • Communicates with other QC Inspectors and takes ownership and initiative.

How to Qualify:
  • High school diploma
  • Blueprint interpretation
  • Using measuring tools such as tape measure, micrometer, level, fillet weld gauges, etc.
  • 5 years of experience with steel fabrication and welding
  • 2 years of experience with quality related procedures and processes.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with quality control manager, production supervisor, direct laborers, and cross-functional teams.
