Job description

SUMMARY
Directs and coordinates activities concerned with daily task in the Quality department as it relates to the testing and releasing of quality product and raw materials including the management of quality technicians, specification review, material investigation, and regulatory compliance.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)
  • Responsible supervising and directing Quality technicians who are responsible for the sampling, inspection, and evaluation of raw material, components, and finished goods at Raining Rose. This includes scheduling, professional development, discipline, and hiring of Quality Technicians.
  • Understand and enforce compliance to Code of Federal Regulations (FDA) and other regulatory requirements for products including but not limited to: Over the Counter (OTC) Drugs, Cosmetics, Certified Organic, Certified Gluten-Free, and other Customer requirements.
  • Authority to release or reject product after testing and, if needed, after review and investigation.
  • Assist with Quality Control testing as needed.
  • Assist in the coordination of testing results from 3rd party and internal labs involving finished products, in-process products, and raw materials.
  • Analyze facts or circumstances surrounding individual issues to determine what action should be taken within the limits of standard practices. Assist in investigations to determine causes of faulty work or out of specifications (OOS) then consult and advise Production Supervisors as to corrective measures including Corrective and Preventive Action functions.
  • Approve or reject procedures and specifications impacting the identity, strength, quality, and purity of products and raw materials.
  • Teach and train others on compliance information and safety knowledge to complete tasks.
  • Quality Control Supervisor shall report any product issues relating to Quality and Product Safety to Quality Manager and/or Chief Operations Officer while handling the daily duties as they relate to staffing and testing. Quality or Safety issues as needed shall also be directed to the CEO.
  • Maintain data and report on department key performance indicators (KPI) monthly.
  • Maintain close working relationships with other department leaders and personnel to meet and maintain product quality, identify, solve, and prevent problems affecting product quality, maximize productivity, and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage quality control projects and meet set deadlines via independent work and/or interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Supervise and manage environmental and water testing on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Contribute to continuous review and improvement of processes to ensure consistent, efficient, and effective practices. Make suggestions regarding procedures, standards, and equipment to facilitate work and maintain product quality.
  • Firm understanding and compliance with company's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with and knowledge of internal audits
  • Experience with quoting projects, product cost analysis and ROI analysis preferred.
  • Technical writing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of analytical theories required.
  • Knowledge of GMP's, OSHA rules and regulations required.
  • Knowledge of material inspection and quality control methods and equipment
  • Knowledge of metric and dashboard development preferred.
  • Training and understanding of laboratory hazards preferred.
