Quality Control Inspector Two information

What industry pays QC inspectors most?

Industries such as aerospace, pharmaceuticals, and electronics tend to pay quality control inspectors higher wages due to the specialized skills and strict standards required. These sectors often require certifications and detailed knowledge of industry-specific regulations, which can lead to increased compensation for QC inspectors working in these fields.

Is a QC inspector job stressful?

A Quality Control Inspector Two job can be stressful at times due to strict quality standards, tight deadlines, and the need for attention to detail. The role often requires focus, patience, and the ability to handle repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Which is higher position, QA or QC?

In the context of quality roles, Quality Assurance (QA) positions are generally considered higher than Quality Control (QC) roles, as QA involves process improvement and prevention, while QC focuses on product inspection and defect detection. A Quality Control Inspector Two typically reports to QA managers or engineers and performs specific testing tasks within the quality system. Certifications like ASQ's CQE or CQA can indicate higher-level expertise in QA roles.

Is QC a high paying job?

Quality Control Inspector positions are generally considered entry to mid-level roles with salaries that vary by industry and location. In many cases, experienced inspectors with certifications or specialized skills can earn higher wages, but overall, QC jobs are not typically classified as high-paying compared to other technical or managerial roles.

The QA/QC Inspector 2 is a senior, advanced inspector responsible for overseeing complex and critical inspection scopes, managing the quality compliance of subcontractors, and acting as a technical authority in the assigned discipline. This role works with a high degree of autonomy.

Our ingenuity fuels daily life. Together, we've forged some of the most trusted partnerships across the energy value chain to make what was once just an idea a reality: laying subsea infrastructure thousands of feet below sea level, installing platforms hundreds of miles from shore, using our expertise to design and build offshore wind infrastructure, and reshaping the onshore landscape to deliver the energy products the world needs safely and sustainably.
For more than 100 years, we've been making the impossible possible. Today, we're driving the energy transition with more than 30,000 of the brightest minds across 54 countries.

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive industrial construction/maintenance industry experience is required, with 5+ years of advanced QA/QC inspection in the specified discipline
  • Hold a senior/advanced professional certification for the discipline (e.g., AWS Senior Certified Welding Inspector (SCWI), NICET Level III/IV, or equivalent advanced state/national Civil certifications)
  • Expert knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards, and the ability to interpret and apply them to construction practices
  • Proven ability to manage inspection records for inclusion in the final Mechanical Completion/Turnover Documentation

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • A formal ASQ Certified Quality Inspector or Certified Quality Auditor designation
  • Experience in vendor surveillance and source inspection at fabrication facilities
  • Familiarity with commissioning and startup procedures from a quality verification standpoint

#LI-JH2

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct internal and external quality audits of subcontractor processes and systems to ensure adherence to the QMS and contractual requirements
  • Provide technical disposition and approval for complex Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and coordinate with regulatory bodies for final approval and commissioning
  • Develop and review Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and job-specific quality procedures, ensuring they meet the most stringent project specifications and industry codes (e.g., ASME, API, NEC)
  • Mentor and provide expert technical guidance to QA/QC Inspectors 1 and Technicians
