Position Overview:

Responsible for inspecting product/process in various areas including Lamination, Small Parts, and P.I. Verifies that the parts are built to print, compliance rules and regulations, and hardcopy option specifications. Checks that parts adhere to the cosmetic standards for gelcoat.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure that all products under purview are inspected in a timely and efficient manner that are consistent with the production run rates.
  • Inspects interior/exterior finish of the parts to specified standards and acceptance criteria
  • Able to identify different lamination glass types, bracing types, and structural adhesives
  • Ability to identify different defects within the fiberglass of a part. Examples include: air, voids, rough glass, delamination, etc.
  • Ability to identify different defects on the gel coat surface of a part. Examples include: stress cracks, thin gel, pits, porosity, pattern, etc.
  • Verifies the part is built to lamination print and construction record specifications
  • Verifies correct placement off all secondary bonding structures and that proper bonding is obtained
  • Ability to audit process adherence for different production areas
  • Ensures that proper amount of foam was injected into liner cavities
  • Enters all findings and variables into QC2 system.
  • Works with Production on identifying improvement opportunities and helps assist in determining the solution
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma
  • Technical competence in multiple disciplines of boat building.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the marine industry
  • Proficiency in understanding prints and drawings
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must work well with others and be a team player
  • Must be flexible to work extended hours to support the requirements of the business.
  • Physical requirements may vary and may include, but not limited to, lifting, standing, stooping, standing, walking, bending, and climbing stairs.
  • Must always possess the desire to work safely as well as report all hazards to the supervisor or manager immediately.

  • Must understand basic terminology such as OSHA, DEP, and other regulatory agencies
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment where designated, including but not limited to, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, etc.
  • Must be able to physically handle the requirements of the job, including lifting, bending, climbing stairs, standing, etc., with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to understand all safety related document and worksite rules and practices, equipment operating instructions, documented safety management systems, and health and safety requirements, including the General Safety Rules and Individual Safety Commitment.

The pay range for this position is $21.42 to $24.05, hourly. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus or short-term incentive program. This position is also eligible for an award target as part of Brunswick's long-term incentive program.
