Job description

Overview

As one of the nation's leading electric transmission line construction companies, MasTec Power Delivery companies engineer and construct efficient and reliable electrical transmission, distribution, and substation & switchyard systems. We've been involved in some of the most challenging and recognizable electric projects across the U.S. From the electric plant to the end users, MasTec's experienced managers and crews consistently deliver transmission, distribution, and substation & switchyard services with an unfailing commitment to safety, integrity, and sustainable practices.  

Job Description Summary:  

QA/QC Inspector observes and documents activities related to all aspects of transmission line including but not limited to foundations, tower steel construction, and conductor stringing and sagging activities. 

Hourly Rate: $50-55 per hour, plus Per Diem, Company vehicle and Gas Card 

 


Responsibilities

Foundation:

  • Inspect excavation of piers 
  • Verify soils match boring logs 
  • Verify that depth and diameter are per design 
  • Verify rebar cages and anchor bolts meet project specifications 
  • Inspect placement of concrete 
  • Verify correct stub angle 
  • Record all locations of concrete being placed 
  • Verify concrete tickets for air content, slump, and temperature in required test loads 
  • Verify as-builds on the foundations before steel assembly begins 
  • Fill out all forms and daily reports as required 

Tower: 

  • Verify assembly and erection of lattice and tubular steel poles 
  • Verify bolt torque and jacking operations 
  • Verify proper hardware and signage

Conductor: 

  • Document wire installation 
  • Verify dead-end assemblies are properly assembled 
  • Verify proper compression sleeve procedures are followed 
  • Verify correct sagging 
  • Verify and document clipping 
  • Verify and document proper number and location of hardware installed 
  • Document times for pulling in wire, sagging and any work task of the pull that may have time constraints 

Qualifications

  • Professional demeanor; remain calm and emotionally controlled under pressure 
  • Detailed oriented and high attention to accuracy 
  • Solid mathematical skills

  • Demonstrated written and verbal skills 
  • Demonstrated Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency 
  • Demonstrated Microsoft Outlook proficiency 
  • Procore experience a plus

  • Some college business courses (helpful but not required)
