Job description

Individual will work with the inspectors, engineering, and production teammates to ensure our products are in conformance with NMBS Shop Standards and Quality Control Manual requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Perform documented deck inspections (If Applic.) and yard audits
  • Assist or Lead field modifications with the ability for overnight stays
  • Assist with training of inspectors
  • Assist with welder qualification process and record keeping
  • Assist with all quality control related testing
  • Coordinate shop modifications
  • Assist with record keeping and maintaining of all quality related measuring and testing equipment
  • Assist with reviewing of MTRs
  • Assist with non-conforming raw materials
  • Assist with internal audits
  • Fill in for QC supervisor when needed
  • Fill in for Line Inspectors in case of emergency
  • Other miscellaneous quality oversight functions
Qualifications

Required

  • Strong commitment and dedication to safety
  • Current CWI, or ability to obtain certification within two years
  • Basic math and computer Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret shop orders

Preferred

  • Desire to become a supervisor
  • Experience with joist, girder, and deck inspection
  • Experience welding and arc gouging
  • Basic understanding of joist and girder configurations
  • Basic understanding of deck products (If Applic.)
