Description

Job Title: Quality Control


Job Summary: 

The QC is responsible and accountable for supporting the Alliance Steel Quality & Safety principles through monitoring and inspecting all products during the manufacturing cycle and prior to leaving the plant for delivery.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret shop prints for your area
  • Inspect the pieces in your area
  • Engage with the Welder/Fitter or Operator/Associate about issues and how to fix
  • Answer questions about code or policy/procedure (Tolerances)
  • Fill out applicable documents (Examples: NCRs, Manifest, Safety Observation Cards, etc.) 100% and promptly
  • Adheres to company policy
  • Adheres to attendance policy
  • Follows safety criteria for assigned areas 
  • Any other duties assigned

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Minimum of 2 years' welding experience (CWI is not required)
  • Be able to read a tape measure to 1/16th inch quickly & accurately
  • Understanding or the overall operation of the entire plant
  • Read and understand prints at a high level of expertise
  • Ability to coordinate your efforts with the Shop Supervisors to avoid work delays
  • Must be proficient with inspection tools
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Preferences:

  • Experience with AWS D1.1
  • Previous weld inspection 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 pounds regularly 
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
  • Ability to safely operate and work around heavy machinery and move materials
