Job Title: Quality Control
Job Summary:
The QC is responsible and accountable for supporting the Alliance Steel Quality & Safety principles through monitoring and inspecting all products during the manufacturing cycle and prior to leaving the plant for delivery.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret shop prints for your area
- Inspect the pieces in your area
- Engage with the Welder/Fitter or Operator/Associate about issues and how to fix
- Answer questions about code or policy/procedure (Tolerances)
- Fill out applicable documents (Examples: NCRs, Manifest, Safety Observation Cards, etc.) 100% and promptly
- Adheres to company policy
- Adheres to attendance policy
- Follows safety criteria for assigned areas
- Any other duties assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Minimum of 2 years' welding experience (CWI is not required)
- Be able to read a tape measure to 1/16th inch quickly & accurately
- Understanding or the overall operation of the entire plant
- Read and understand prints at a high level of expertise
- Ability to coordinate your efforts with the Shop Supervisors to avoid work delays
- Must be proficient with inspection tools
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Perform other duties as assigned
Preferences:
- Experience with AWS D1.1
- Previous weld inspection
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 pounds regularly
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
- Ability to safely operate and work around heavy machinery and move materials
