A Day in the Life as a Construction Quality Control Technician
A Construction Quality Control Technician spends the day ensuring that quality construction methods are being employed while building our growing fiber optic network. They serve as a critical eye in the field and the office, conducting pre- and post-construction site visits across Kansas.

Throughout the day, they maintain accurate route maps, complete QC checklists and reports, and capture detailed project photos. By collaborating closely with contractors and internal project management teams, they maintain accurate plant drawings, communicate necessary changes, and ensure our expanding infrastructure meets the highest standards.


Location: This position will be hybrid, preferably located in Wichita with the ability to travel to project sites located throughout Kansas.


What You'll Do
Key responsibilities include:

  • Visit Telecommunications project sites Pre and Post Construction to Update Plant Drawings (Vetro Fiber Map As-Builts)
  • Confirm that Contractors are adhering to Quality Construction Methods/Specifications
  • Prepare Project QC Checklists/Reports & Take Project Photos
  • Maintain positive relations with Contractors and provide notification of required changes
  • Coordinate with Construction Project Management & Outside Plant Teams to maintain accurate plant drawings

What We're Looking For
To be considered for this role, you'll need the following required qualifications:

  • 2+ years field construction, construction management, or installation experience
  • General knowledge of construction excavation and required equipment
  • Intermediate computer skills (experience in MS Office and/or Google)
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to drive company vehicle to project sites
  • Willingness to stay out of town overnight occasionally as needed to perform QC Checks
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various conditions

What Will Help You Stand Out

  • Telecommunications Outside Plant Construction Experience
  • Pre-Construction Experience-Designing Route Maps, Preparing Construction Specifications, Scopes of Work, Splice Diagrams, and Determining Cable Placement
  • Experience mapping existing infrastructure (natural gas pipes, water lines, electric lines, and sewer)
  • Experience developing a Construction Plan-constructability, permitting, design, engineering, staking
  • General knowledge of Utility Right-of-Ways and Easements
  • Familiarity with Telecommunications Fiber Maps (Vetro or others)
