FSQ CORPORATE STAFF ENGINEER - SYSTEMS IMPROVEMENT - CORPORATE OFFICE (AUSTIN, WILLMAR, MN, or REMOTE WORK (Approval Required)

This position will report to the Corporate Manager Quality Systems.

Relocation is eligible for this role.

The person awarded this role will be assigned to either FSQ Corporate Staff Engineer - Systems Improvement or Senior FSQ Corporate Staff Engineer - Systems Improvement depending on the strength of their experience and qualifications.

ROLE SCOPE

This role leads the implementation and ongoing advancement of Manufacturing Data Enablement (MDE) utilizing SafetyChain software, serving as the primary point of contact for system deployment, adoption, and performance across the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead implementation efforts for new plant manufacturing data enablement (MDE) technology utilizing SafetyChain software.  This involves coordination of implementation team, preparation of plant forms, identification of key data to be used in trending and reporting. 

  • Once initial implementation efforts are completed across Hormel facilities, conducts risk mitigation of system failure by reviewing maturity scorecards from each facility, providing support and direction to lagging plants as needed to ensure full facility implementation across the enterprise.

  • Develops system maturity by maintaining a relationship with the MDE vendor and ensures that Hormel continues to find ways to improve the MDE system allowing the company to fully leverage the system and its capabilities to drive business results.

  • Assists with management and implementation of all QC related programs and systems enterprise wide including tactical systems such as Global Vision, SharePoint, QCOC, IQS, and PolicyTech.

  • Creates and maintains SOP's, training, and other documentation related to running QC technology systems. 

  • Works closely with the Business Architect group for Supply Chain and IT to develop and create solutions for Quality Management System (QMS) projects.

  • Develops training and assists with implementation of any new software solutions deployed through the Quality Management System Team.  

  • Troubleshooting technology/user interface issues at plant sites by working with IT and replicating on the system.

  • Testing and validating data on the various systems the Quality Systems Team oversees.

  • Provides end user feedback on new system technology development.

  • Extensive travel required during the 2-year initial implementation phase of the project (60-70%).  Once initial implementation is completed, some travel required for development and training (30-40%) as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • A record of successful experience in plant food safety and quality activities, experience in leading projects to successful conclusions.

  • Experience with FSQ systems (IQS, QCOC, Global Vision).

  • Demonstrated pattern of initiative and leadership.

  • Ability to influence without direct authority.

  • Strong problem solving, decision-making, public speaking, and project management skills.

  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills including aptitude in Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint

  • Minimum of four years FSQ supervisor, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain or equivalent experience
