Position Summary

The Quality Coordinator is responsible for ensuring products, materials, and manufacturing processes consistently meet company, customer, and regulatory quality standards. This role performs inspections, supports supplier quality initiatives, maintains calibration and quality documentation, assists with audits and corrective actions, and collaborates across production, engineering, and customers to drive continuous improvement. The Quality Control Technician also serves as a backup to the Quality Supervisor and helps maintain an efficient, customer-focused quality management system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming materials, fabricated parts, and finished products to verify compliance with engineering drawings, customer requirements, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with production and the inspection team to identify, resolve, and prevent quality issues throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Maintain quality documentation, inspection records, calibration schedules, and required compliance paperwork.
  • Support supplier quality initiatives, including supplier evaluations, material acceptance, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Assist with customer communication regarding quality concerns, shipping documentation, returned materials (RMA), and job completion.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits while supporting compliance with company quality systems and customer requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain calibration of inspection equipment and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Support recovery efforts and corrective actions when quality issues or missed delivery commitments occur.
  • Serve as backup to the Quality Supervisor by providing departmental support and assisting with team coordination when needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and ongoing quality training to improve inspection processes, efficiency, and product quality.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience in quality control, quality assurance, manufacturing inspection, or metal fabrication preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Working knowledge of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality documentation systems; ERP experience is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
