Job description

Position Summary

Responsible for ensuring product quality specifications and processes are in compliance with regulatory, company and customer standards and requirements. 

Position Details

  • Review shop fabrications for drawing conformance, verifies installation of products and materials and confirms that procedures are being followed and are code compliant.
  • Perform visual inspections of stainless-steel piping, welds, and components during fabrication and installation
  • Verify compliance with project specifications, drawings, and codes including ASME B31.3
  • Inspect weld fit-up, joint preparation, purge setup, and completed welds (TIG/GTAW preferred)
  • Monitor welding activities to ensure adherence to approved WPS/PQR per ASME Section IX
  • Conduct or witness NDE examinations such as VT, PT, and coordinate RT/UT as require. 
  • Verify material traceability, MTRs, heat numbers, and proper storage/handling of stainless material
  • Identify and document non-conformances and support corrective actions
  • Maintain inspection reports and weld logs
  • Coordinate with fabrication, welding, and project management team

Qualifications 

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Level II certification in Visual Testing (VT) required (per ASNTor equivalent)
  • Additional certifications (PT, UT, or RT) strongly preferred
  • 2+ years of inspection experience in piping fabrication or industrial construction
  • Strong knowledge of stainless-steel welding practices (GTAW/TIG with purge)
  • Familiarity with sanitary or high-purity systems is a plus
  • List no more than six (6) essential KSAs, including system-relevant technical skills.
  • Codes & Standards: ASME B31.3, ASME Section IX
  • Understanding of: Weld defects and acceptance criteria, Orbital and manual TIG welding, Passivation and corrosion control, Isometric drawings and P&IDs
  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations as well as safety policies and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and weld symbols
  • Good communication skills to work with welders, supervisors, and clients

Pay: Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Maryland this ranges from $82,171.00 - $97,111.00 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
