Job description

Quality Inspector

The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure they meet established specifications, quality requirements, and applicable medical device manufacturing standards. This position performs inspections and audits, maintains accurate quality records, identifies nonconforming product, and works closely with Production and Quality Assurance to support product quality and continuous improvement.

Essential Job Duties
  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections to verify products meet drawings, specifications, and established quality requirements.
  • Use precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, depth micrometers, and other inspection gages, to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and inspection requirements.
  • Accurately document inspection and testing results and maintain controlled documents, inspection records, and test records in accordance with established procedures and good documentation practices.
  • Conduct and document process and system audits and assist with internal quality and compliance activities.
  • Identify and document nonconforming product, evaluate quality concerns, and make initial recommendations for corrective action.
  • Review Device History Records (DHRs) and related documentation for completeness and compliance with established procedures.
  • Work closely with Production and Quality Assurance to communicate inspection findings, resolve quality concerns, and provide feedback regarding assembly procedures.
  • Assist with the development and revision of inspection procedures, protocols, and checklists.
  • Support root cause investigation, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of quality control or inspection experience preferred; prior manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Working knowledge of precision measuring equipment, including height gages, OD micrometers, depth micrometers, and calipers.
  • Strong mathematical, problem-solving, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with Production and Quality teams.
  • Mechanical aptitude preferred.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work overtime and weekends as production needs require.
Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods and perform occasional bending, kneeling, squatting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials or components weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and wear required PPE, including safety glasses and gloves.
  • Must follow established safety, cleanliness, quality, and regulatory requirements.
