Job description

Overview
The Quality Assurance Inspector 2 is responsible for ensuring aerospace products, systems, and manufacturing processes meet engineering, regulatory, customer, and internal quality requirements through advanced inspection, quality control oversight, auditing, verification, corrective action support, and continuous improvement leadership. This position serves as an experienced quality resource and process owner, driving quality excellence, defect prevention, process compliance, cost reduction, operational efficiency, and measurable improvements across manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and inspect to engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Verify product, process, and documentation compliance with customer, engineering, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain inspection records, non-conformance reports, corrective actions, and quality documentation.
  • Lead quality control activities for assigned products, work centers, or manufacturing processes to ensure consistent conformance, defect containment, and timely resolution of quality issues.
  • Use inspection data, non-conformance trends, audit findings, and production feedback to identify recurring issues and recommend corrective, preventive, and process improvement actions.
  • Conduct audits of manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality systems.
  • Communicate quality findings and non-conformances to manufacturing, engineering, and leadership teams.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation activities.
  • Facilitate structured problem-solving efforts, including root cause analysis, containment, corrective action verification, and effectiveness checks to reduce repeat defects and improve process capability.
  • Analyze assemblies, components, and products to determine acceptance or rejection.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of quality procedures, manuals, and inspection requirements.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, manufacturing processes, and safety standards.
  • Operate independently and objectively while supporting process improvement, standardization, and change management initiatives.
  • Coach and support manufacturing teams in identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Identify and champion continuous improvement projects across multiple functions and departments.
  • Recommend and support improvements that reduce scrap, rework, escapes, inspection delays, and quality-related costs while improving throughput, delivery performance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide leadership in structured problem-solving efforts focused on safety, quality, productivity, delivery, and cost.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for quality standards, inspection practices, process controls, and continuous improvement methods within the assigned area.
  • Identify opportunities for design, process, and system improvements that enhance quality performance.
  • Maintain compliance with work instructions, quality requirements, 6S expectations, and PPE requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required:
  • GED/HS Diploma
  • Familiarity with aerospace standards (e.g., AS9100, NADCAP, FAA regulations) and tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMMs).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control within the aerospace industry, preferably in manufacturing or assembly environments
  • Strong understanding of aerospace materials, processes, and testing methods.
  • Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (QMS) and inspection software

  • Manages stress, including competing work demands and multiple projects at the same time.
Preferred:
  • A&P License, or AAS in Quality Assurance, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as ASNT, ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or similar quality certifications are a plus.
  • Leadership experience.

Pay Range
Salary Range: USD $20.85/Hr. - USD $31.27/Hr.
