Job description

Quality Assurance Engineer

Position Summary

The QA Engineer is responsible for quality assurance efforts across enterprise data platform (EDP) reporting and application initiatives. This role requires strong analytical thinking to evaluate complex data workflows, ETL processes, integrations, and reporting solutions to ensure high-quality outcomes.

The candidate will work closely with developers, data engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure data integrity, system reliability, and overall product quality. This role is accountable for validating data throughout the entire data lifecycle—from source systems through ETL processes and Microsoft Fabric to reporting applications such as Power BI—while ensuring readiness for production releases. The position requires deep expertise in SQL, data platforms, system integrations, and modern reporting technologies.

Responsibilities

As a QA Engineer, you will:

  • Apply advanced analytical thinking and logical reasoning to assess complex data systems, identify root causes, and support solutions
  • Execute quality assurance activities for enterprise data platforms, ETL processes, reporting solutions, and system integrations, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across systems
  • Perform end-to-end data validation from source systems through ETL processes to downstream reporting applications
  • Analyze and validate data across multiple database systems, including Oracle SQL Developer, MySQL, and Microsoft SQL Server
  • Validate ETL/ELT pipelines, data transformations, and business rules within Microsoft Fabric using SQL and PySpark
  • Review and validate API integrations, including request/response structures, status codes, and protocols
  • Analyze and validate JSON and XML data structures across systems and integrations
  • Validate Power BI reports and dashboards by verifying calculations, filters, drill-through functionality, visualizations, KPIs, security, and user experience
  • Perform cross-browser and mobile testing of reporting applications using BrowserStack
  • Design and execute validation strategies for large-scale data processing and integrations
  • Collaborate with development teams and data engineers to ensure alignment with mortgage processes and KPIs
  • Communicate testing progress, risks, and results clearly to stakeholders and leadership
  • Support and guide QA processes, including risk identification and mitigation strategies
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and help drive QA best practices across teams
  • Manage priorities, timelines, and deliverables in a fast-paced, data-driven environment
  • Support and contribute to test automation efforts using tools such as Playwright, Python, and API tools (e.g., Postman)

Characteristics

You are a strong fit for this role if you have:

  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, with strong focus on data platforms or enterprise systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex data and system behaviors
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, Microsoft Fabric architecture, and data integration principles
  • Advanced SQL skills with experience writing complex queries for data analysis, reconciliation, troubleshooting, and validation across Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or similar platforms
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, data modeling, joins, indexing, and query optimization concepts
  • Experience testing reporting solutions, including Microsoft Power BI, with the ability to validate data accuracy, business logic, calculations, filters, and visualizations
  • Strong experience analyzing and validating JSON and XML data formats
  • Experience validating web and mobile applications using BrowserStack or similar cross-browser testing platforms
  • Experience validating APIs using tools such as Postman, including request/response validation, authentication, and status code verification
  • Experience with test automation frameworks such as Playwright or Selenium and scripting using Python or similar languages
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development and testing tools (e.g., ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot) to improve productivity, test design, troubleshooting, and code generation
  • Understanding of mortgage industry processes and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage changing priorities

A reasonable estimate of the total compensation range for this role is $100,000-$120,000. The actual salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, geographic location, training, licensure and certification, and other factors. CoreVest also offers a competitive benefit package including discretionary corporate bonus program, multiple health plans, STD and LTD options, company sponsored life insurance, fitness reimbursement, paid parental leave, time to volunteer, Paid Time off, ESPP, and 401K matching.
