Job description

Fall Protection Field Inspector / Installer / QA-QC Technician

Location: Ontario, CA

About the Role:

We are hiring a Fall Protection Field Inspector / Installer / QA-QC Technician to support the inspection, installation, service, and documentation of fall protection systems.

The right candidate will have a strong field, inspection, mechanical, construction, or QA/QC background and the ability to learn specialized fall protection systems through company-provided training.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on field work, technical problem-solving, working from drawings and specifications, using tools and measuring equipment, taking clear photos and field notes, and preparing accurate reports.

Most work is local at customer sites, rooftops, industrial facilities, and construction environments. Travel is limited, although occasional out-of-area travel may be required for select projects, service work, or training.

What You Will Do:

· Inspect, install, service, and maintain fall protection systems, including anchors, lifelines, guardrails, rigid rail systems, access platforms, safety gates, ladders, and related equipment.

· Review drawings, shop drawings, layout plans, specifications, anchor schedules, manufacturer instructions, and project requirements.

· Inspect systems for damaged, worn, missing, improperly installed, or non-compliant components.

· Verify installation details such as substrate condition, fasteners, torque, embedment, spacing, labels, load ratings, user capacity, waterproofing, and system layout.

· Take clear photos, measurements, serial numbers, asset information, location details, and field notes to support inspection and installation records.

· Prepare inspection reports, service reports, QA/QC records, deficiency reports, jobsite notes, and final documentation.

· Identify and document safety-critical issues, nonconformances, maintenance items, missing labels, corrosion, cracking, deformation, or other damage.

· Support QA/QC processes such as inspection checklists, receiving inspections, in-process inspections, final acceptance, corrective action follow-up, and documentation control.

· Review and organize manuals, product data, certificates of conformance, calibration records, torque logs, pull-test logs, test reports, and installation records.

· Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, project managers, and team members regarding work progress, jobsite conditions, inspection findings, and safety concerns.

· Recognize jobsite hazards and follow company procedures, project requirements, and applicable safety standards.

Who We Are Looking For:

You do not need to come from the fall protection industry. We are looking for candidates who bring strong technical habits, attention to detail, field judgment, and pride in doing safety-critical work correctly.

Strong backgrounds may include construction QA/QC inspection, ICC special inspection, welding inspection or CWI, civil or structural engineering technician work, roofing, waterproofing, building-envelope inspection, manufacturing quality control, NDT or visual inspection, concrete or materials testing, ironwork, structural steel installation, millwright or industrial maintenance work, commercial roofing, welding, fabrication, or safety inspection with strong field documentation experience.

The best candidates are comfortable reading drawings, using tools, measuring field conditions, documenting deficiencies, writing reports, and communicating professionally with customers.

Required Qualifications:

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Strong attention to detail and ability to document work accurately.

· Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, manufacturer instructions, and inspection criteria.

· Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and inspection equipment.

· Ability to take clear photos, measurements, and field notes.

· Ability to prepare accurate reports using clear, factual language.

· Comfortable working at heights, on rooftops, ladders, elevated platforms, and outdoor jobsites.

· Competent with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

· Reliable, punctual, organized, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

· Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

· Ability to travel locally to customer sites and job locations as required.

· Willingness to participate in occasional out-of-area travel when project needs require it.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Fall protection, construction inspection, field inspection, or QA/QC experience.

· Experience preparing inspection reports, deficiency reports, NCRs, punch lists, service reports, or field documentation.

· Experience working from drawings, shop drawings, submittals, manuals, or engineered details.

· Experience using torque tools, calibrated equipment, gauges, pull-test equipment, or precision measuring tools.

· Experience with aerial lifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, or other elevated work equipment.

· Experience with roofing, waterproofing, structural steel, welding, fabrication, concrete, anchors, or mechanical installation.

Training Provided:

CAI Safety will provide fall protection-specific training for the right candidate. Training may include:

· Fall protection authorized user training.

· Competent person or competent inspector training.

· Manufacturer-specific installation and inspection training.

· OSHA and ANSI/ASSP fall protection standards overview.

· System-specific training for anchors, lifelines, guardrails, rigid rail systems, access platforms, safety gates, ladders, and related equipment.

· Report writing, photo documentation, QA/QC procedures, and company inspection standards.

· Field reporting software and company documentation systems.

Physical Requirements:

· Work safely at heights.

· Climb ladders and access rooftops.

· Work on elevated surfaces, platforms, and outdoor jobsites.

· Lift, carry, push, or pull tools, equipment, and materials as needed.

· Stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and work outdoors for extended periods.

· Work in varying weather conditions and jobsite environments.

Follow all required safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
