Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Manager at Harper Engineering is pivotal in upholding and enhancing the quality of products, processes, and services. This role entails managing the Quality Management System, leading both internal and external audits, overseeing supplier quality, and providing leadership and support to the Quality Assurance team. The manager will ensure compliance with AS9100/ISO9001, FAA CFR, and other relevant standards, driving continuous improvement and maintaining high-quality standards across the organization.


Essential Job Duties:

  • ย Lead the Quality Department Staff, (Inspection and Quality Engineering), providing direction and support, and reporting directly to the President.
  • Initiate and manage Continuous Improvement Projects and lead Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations to enhance product quality and process efficiency.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive quality plans and procedures, utilizing statistical quality controls and analysis to ensure product and service quality.
  • Manage the Risk Management & Internal Auditing Programs, including documentation and cross-functional collaboration to address quality issues.
  • Ensure supplier quality, including management of outside process vendors, clear communication of requirements, and monitoring of on-time delivery.
  • Coordinate training to ensure proficiency in the Quality Management System for all relevant employees.

Secondary Duties:

  • Review and approve engineering specifications, manufacturing work instructions, Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs), and test procedures, ensuring adequacy, compliance, and quality.
  • Analyze trend and metric data to identify areas for continuous/process improvements.
  • Review, and partner with the company to collaboratively develop compliance programs for upcoming customer demands such as ITAR, CMMC, SOC, APQP, AS9145, ISO14001, ISO45001.

Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and intermediate computer skills.
  • Technical writing skills for developing procedures and work instructions.
  • Capability to develop inspection/process standards and act as a liaison between Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing departments.
  • Extensive experience with AS9100/ISO9001 based Quality Management Systems.
  • Proven track record in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
  • Minimum of 7 years in a Quality Assurance leadership role
  • Deep knowledge of ERP and QMS Systems ( Aptean, EpiCor, UniPoint, HQMS, etc)

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering discipline with 5 years of Quality Engineering/Quality Assurance experience .
  • ASQ Certified Quality Manager certificate or similar, Six Sigma, or LEAN Manufacturing training/certification.
  • Experience with Part 145 Repair Station
  • Experience in using measurement tools (CMM experience). Statistical Process Control experience.ย 
  • Internal or Lead Auditor training/certification.
  • JIRA and Confluence experience
