Job description

MHI RJ Aviation Group (MHIRJ)ย is the merging of two important heritages: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and the CRJ Series program. Weย provide comprehensive critical operational, engineering and customer support solutions including maintenance, refurbishment, technical publications,ย marketingย and sales activities for the global regionalย aircraftย industry.ย ย 

Weย are seeking experiencedย aircraftย technicians who are interested in becoming aย Quality Inspector.ย We will trainย interested individualsย onย the role; noย previousย inspectorย experienceย required!ย 

Purpose of the role:ย 

MHIRJ's network of service centers, support offices and parts depots are positioned in important aviation hubs in the U.S.ย Theย Quality Inspectorย performs inspections of aircraft, engines, parts, and components using precision tools, equipment, and other materials in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and is responsible for ensuring all airworthiness quality requirements are performed and documented in accordance with all applicable regulations regarding maintenance, preventative maintenance, repair and alteration of aircraft, engine, and aircraft components/parts for which the Repair Station is rated.ย 

Here are the daily responsibilities ofย a Quality Inspector:ย ย 

  • Conduct weighingย proceduresย in accordance withย customers' recommended practices and procedures.ย 

  • Upon A/C arrival, obtain associated documentation, complete A/Cย recordsย and document receiptย to performย incoming inspections.ย 

  • Coordinate inspection activities in compliance with computer tracking maintenance programs.ย ย 

  • Upon receipt, perform inspection of all new, repaired, and rebuilt parts/components for evidenceย ofย physical damage, count, and conformity.ย 

  • Ensure all work packages (orders and forms) as well as records of arrival, maintenance and corrective actions performed, are documented accurately and that all specializedย customerย (RED, RFE & SRPSA) and regulatory paperwork (FAA, FAR/CAA, etc.)ย isย complete andย requiredย approvals have been obtained.ย 

  • Researchย aircraftย drawings and technical data (i.e., REO, EINO, EO,ย EA)ย 

  • Perform walk around inspection ofย aircraftย for release from maintenance.ย 

  • Perform return to service process and ensure assignedย aircraftย meets all airworthiness requirements prior to return to service.ย 

  • Provide data to customers asย requested.ย 

  • Train, coach and mentor technicians and other inspectors in the performance of duties in area(s) of qualificationย 

  • Assistย with research activities.ย 

  • Perform conformity inspections.ย 

  • Conduct Internal Procedural Auditsย 

  • Perform research functions, includingย aircraftย recordsย research,ย aircraftย configuration assessment and maintenance requirement determination based on research.ย 

Here is what isย requiredย to succeed:ย 

  • 5 years of experience as an A&P Technician /ย Aircraftย Maintenance Technician, ideally in a heavy maintenance environment.

  • Familiarity with aircraft inspections under FAR 145, 121, 135 or through the military, on military aircraft.ย 

  • FAA-issued Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license.ย 
  • Have a working knowledge of special tooling and machinery used in detail inspection.ย ย 

  • Haveย a working knowledge ofย aircraftย part fabrication process.ย ย 

  • Ability to calculate tolerances using specialty / calibrated measuring devices.ย ย 

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering documents.ย ย 

  • Ability to use and interpret a variety of precision measurement instruments and special tooling.ย ย 

  • Mustย be able to pass hearing and vision tests.ย
