The contractor is responsible for editing, reviewing, and translating academic, curricular, and instructional design materials, ensuring linguistic quality, consistency, and compliance with institutional and accreditation standards.
This engagement requires an excellent command of both English and Spanish, proficiency in editing and translation best practices, and familiarity with academic style guides such as the APA Publication Manual. The contractor will collaborate with the Director of Editing and Translation, Curriculum Specialists, Instructional Designers, and the Academic Development leadership to support the creation of high-quality learning resources and academic documentation.
Scope of Services and Responsibilities
The contractor shall provide professional services that include, but are not limited to, the following:
Editing and Translation
  • Edit, review, and translate materials in both English and Spanish, ensuring consistency with NUC University’s institutional style and academic guidelines.
  • Collaborate on the editing and translation of syllabi and curricular documentation developed by the curriculum team.
  • Participate in the instructional design cycle by editing, reviewing, and translating course materials and multimedia content developed by the instructional design team, working with subject matter experts and curriculum specialists as needed.
  • Ensure grammatical, stylistic, and linguistic quality, maintaining accuracy, coherence, and clarity in both languages.
  • Ensure that translations maintain conceptual integrity and linguistic precision while adapting tone and terminology to fit the academic and cultural context.
  • Use artificial intelligence (AI) and other technological tools that enhance editing and translation processes and engage in continuous training to stay current with emerging technologies that support quality and efficiency, in line with departmental guidelines.
  • Edit and translate additional materials assigned by supervisors or project leads, ensuring timely delivery and quality consistency, and supporting other departments, institutional initiatives, or special projects as required.

Resources, Quality, and Compliance
  • Verify that all course references, citations, and resources comply with the formatting standards established in the APA Publication Manual and institutional style guides.
  • Submit course resources for Quality Assurance for Learning Resources (QA-LR) review.
  • Identify and flag any content that may represent a potential copyright or intellectual property violation, and coordinate with the QA-LR team to determine appropriate actions.
  • Incorporate recommendations derived from the QA-LR review to maintain accuracy, consistency, and compliance with institutional standards.
  • Collaborate with the QA-LR and academic teams to maintain documentation that supports copyright clearance and learning resource validation.

Professional Practice
  • Use artificial intelligence (AI) tools ethically and responsibly, ensuring academic integrity, originality, and compliance with institutional policies.
  • Maintain, at the contractor’s own expense, all equipment, software, and licenses necessary to perform contracted services effectively and securely.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to strengthen expertise in academic editing, translation, and educational publishing standards.
