Job description

Quality Assurance Associate

Your Opportunity:

At PLACE, we're building a category-defining company at the intersection of real estate, technology, business services, and the consumer. As a profitable, hypergrowth startup, on the path to an IPO, our standards are high, our team is scrappy, and our commitment is to execute the best work of our lives.

This is YOUR CHANCE to shape the backbone of a company that's scaling rapidly and innovating boldly. As our Quality Assurance Associate, you'll partner with engineers, product managers, and designers to ensure the quality, reliability, and usability of Place Inc's portfolio of seven mobile applications across iOS and Android. If you thrive in complexity, entrepreneurial problem-solving, and believe in scaling through tech and AI, this is your PLACE.

Who Develops You: Mobile Team Lead

What You're Great At:

You bring 0-2 years of experience in QA, software testing, technical support, or application testing, along with a methodical, detail-oriented approach that helps you catch what others miss. You're comfortable spending extended time on both iOS and Android devices, confidently navigating the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and platforms like TestFlight, and you understand core mobile concepts like builds, releases, permissions, notifications, and device compatibility. You can independently explore an application, test common workflows, and think through both expected and unexpected user behavior to surface real issues. When you find something, you document it clearly, writing concise, actionable bug reports with screenshots, screen recordings, and step-by-step reproduction details, while knowing how to distinguish true defects from usability quirks or expected behavior.

You're organized enough to juggle multiple applications, testing requests, and shifting priorities without losing track of what's been tested and what hasn't, and you're comfortable using project management or issue-tracking tools to keep it all straight. You pick up new tools, apps, and processes quickly, communicate clearly in writing and conversation, and work well alongside engineers, product managers, and other teammates to help ship a better product. Experience with tools like ClickUp, Jira, Linear, or GitHub Issues, exposure to Agile/Scrum teams, web application QA, API testing (such as Postman), or a background in software or SaaS environments are all pluses, but not required.

What You'll Do:

Mobile Application Testing
  • Manually test and validate PLACE's portfolio of seven mobile applications across iOS and Android.
  • Perform functional testing of new features, enhancements, fixes, and existing application functionality.
  • Test applications in TestFlight and Android pre-release environments prior to production releases.
  • Perform regression testing to ensure new changes do not negatively impact existing functionality.
  • Conduct routine testing of applications in production to identify issues, unexpected behavior, or broken functionality.
  • Test common user workflows and scenarios across different applications and platforms.
  • Verify that features function as intended across supported devices, operating systems, and screen sizes.
  • Test application updates and releases before and after they are deployed to production.
  • Pay close attention to user experience, visual issues, navigation, performance, and overall application behavior.
  • Identify edge cases and unexpected scenarios that may not be covered during normal development.
Bug Identification & Reporting
  • Identify, document, and clearly communicate bugs and unexpected application behavior.
  • Create detailed bug reports that include steps to reproduce, expected behavior, actual behavior, device/platform information, and relevant screenshots or screen recordings.
  • Work with engineers to reproduce and troubleshoot reported issues.
  • Retest bugs after fixes are deployed to verify that issues have been properly resolved.
  • Track reported issues through their lifecycle from initial discovery through resolution.
  • Identify patterns or recurring issues across applications and communicate them to the appropriate team members.
  • Escalate critical issues that may impact production users or prevent a release from moving forward.
Release & Production QA
  • Participate in the QA process for mobile application releases from development through production.
  • Review and test builds provided through TestFlight and Android testing environments.
  • Validate that completed features and bug fixes meet the expected requirements before release.
  • Perform final regression testing before production deployments.
  • Conduct post-release checks to confirm that applications are functioning correctly after updates are pushed to the App Store and Google Play.
  • Maintain a consistent checklist of critical functionality that should be validated during each release.
  • Help establish and improve repeatable QA processes as the mobile application portfolio continues to grow.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and other team members to identify and resolve application issues.
  • Communicate bugs and testing results clearly to both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Participate in sprint planning, standups, and other team meetings as needed.
  • Review product requirements and feature specifications to understand expected functionality.
  • Provide feedback on usability and potential issues from a real-world user perspective.
  • Help ensure that product changes are thoroughly validated before being released to customers.
  • Maintain documentation related to testing procedures, regression checklists, and known issues.

Salary: $18-20/hour, depending on experience. This is a part-time, hybrid role based in Draper, Utah, with flexibility based on release schedules and QA needs.ย

Why PLACE:

We believe people do their best work when they're trusted, supported, and surrounded by others who are equally driven. Every team member is an owner, building the "PLACE" they are proud to call "my company."
