What does a quality and reliability engineer do?

A Quality and Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring that products and processes meet established quality standards and perform reliably over their expected lifespans. They analyze product designs, manufacturing processes, and field data to identify potential issues and implement improvements. Their work often involves developing testing protocols, conducting root cause analyses, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance product quality and reliability. Ultimately, their goal is to minimize defects, reduce failures, and ensure customer satisfaction.

How does a quality and reliability engineer typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to address product issues?

Quality and Reliability Engineers routinely work with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to identify, analyze, and resolve product issues. They participate in root cause analysis meetings, use data from testing and field performance, and help implement corrective and preventive actions. This collaboration ensures that quality standards are met throughout the product lifecycle, and engineers often act as the bridge between technical teams and management to communicate findings and recommend improvements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a quality and reliability engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Quality and Reliability Engineer, you need a solid background in engineering principles, statistical analysis, and quality control methodologies, often complemented by a degree in engineering or a related field. Job description

About Us
Beast Industries is a multifaceted media and entertainment company founded by Jimmy Donaldson, popularly known as MrBeast, the most watched person in the world. Renowned for revolutionizing digital content creation, Beast Industries encompasses a diverse portfolio of ventures that extend far beyond its origins on YouTube. With a mission to entertain, inspire, and create significant social impact, Beast Industries operates across various domains including digital media, philanthropy, consumer products, and innovative business initiatives. At Beast Industries, we believe in the transformative power of digital media and its potential to entertain, educate, and effect positive change. Our commitment to innovation, creativity, and philanthropy drives us to explore new frontiers, create unforgettable experiences, and build a legacy that inspires future generations.
The Opportunity
We're doing an AI-first engineering rebuild for a company that already has an audience of 100M+ people. This is a zero-to-one build with no legacy constraints. You're not here to inherit a decade of flaky tests and silent outages. You're here to build quality and reliability practices from scratch, using AI tools to move faster and catch more than was ever possible before.
The Product
You'll be part of a small team setting the quality and reliability bar for a consumer-facing platform shipping to millions of users. The work spans automated testing, CI/CD integration, and production monitoring across a fast-moving, AI-native engineering org. That means:
  • Automated test coverage across unit, integration, end-to-end, and performance testing that catches regressions before they reach users.
  • CI/CD pipelines with quality gates that give every engineer fast, reliable feedback on every commit.
  • Production monitoring and alerting that surfaces real issues quickly so the team can respond before users notice.

What You'll Do
  • Build and maintain automated test suites across mobile and backend surfaces, with a focus on coverage, reliability, and speed.
  • Integrate quality gates into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring tests run on every commit and block bad code from reaching production.
  • Monitor production systems for anomalies, contribute to incident response, and follow through on root-cause fixes.
  • Work closely with engineers across the team to embed quality thinking into the development process, not just the release gate.

Who You Are
  • AI-Native: You're already using AI tools daily to write tests, diagnose failures, and move faster.
  • QA Builder: 2+ years of hands-on experience building and maintaining automated test infrastructure for consumer-facing mobile or web products.
  • Reliability Minded: You care about what happens after code ships. You monitor, you alert, and you follow through when something breaks in production.
  • Collaborative: You work well with engineers, communicate clearly about quality risks, and help the team ship with confidence rather than slowing them down.

Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks (Playwright, Appium, Espresso, XCTest, or equivalent), CI/CD pipelines, and at least one observability or monitoring tool. Bonus points for experience with AI-assisted QA tools, mobile app testing at consumer scale, and familiarity with SLO and error-budget concepts.
Benefits
The Perks, Why Work On the MrBeast Team
We are redefining what entertainment and storytelling look like at global scale. Every piece of content we publish reaches millions and influences culture in real time. This is your opportunity to lead the team that decides how those moments come to life across every screen.
  • Competitive Salary
  • Generous Medical (Blue Cross Blue Shield), Dental, Vision and company-paid Life Insurance
  • Company contributions to employee Health Savings Accounts (HSA)
  • 401k Plan with Safe Harbor company-matching
  • Flexible vacation policy and paid company holidays
  • Company-provided technology package
  • Relocation assistance where applicable, including travel and company-provided housing for the first 90 days
