Position Overview

Marathon Generators is seeking a highly motivated Customer Quality Engineer to serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality concerns. This role, based in Wausau, WI, is responsible for leading customer issue resolution activities, driving immediate containment actions, coordinating investigations across multiple manufacturing facilities, and ensuring robust corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence. The successful candidate will work closely with customers, manufacturing operations, quality teams, engineering, supply chain, and product management to deliver timely and effective solutions while enhancing overall customer satisfaction and product quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary customer-facing quality representative for product quality concerns, warranty issues, and field performance problems.
  • Lead customer issue management from initial notification through final resolution and closure.
  • Coordinate and drive immediate containment actions to protect customers and minimize business impact.
  • Direct root cause investigations utilizing structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, and FMEA.
  • Work with multiple Marathon Generators manufacturing facilities to develop, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide timely communication and status updates to customers, sales teams, service teams, and leadership.
  • Analyze quality trends, customer complaints, warranty data, and field performance metrics to identify systemic improvement opportunities.
  • Support customer visits, audits, and quality reviews as required.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Supplier Quality teams to resolve cross-functional quality concerns.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, improving customer satisfaction, and enhancing manufacturing quality performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, customer quality, or related role.
  • Experience leading root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
  • Strong customer communication and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to customer locations and manufacturing facilities.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in electrical equipment, generators, motors, industrial manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and standards such as ISO 9001.
  • Experience with warranty management and field quality analysis.
  • Certification as a Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar quality credential.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.
