Job description

Position Overview

The Technical Services Representative is responsible for performing field inspection, investigation, and service work on all types of windows manufactured by Quaker throughout the United States. This will encompass, but is not limited to, evaluating, removing windows and doors for repair, and disassembling whole or parts of windows and doors for repair. Overnight travel is a significant requirement. Meal per diems are given and hotel charges are covered. The Technical Services Representative is also responsible for preparing required documentation and reporting for all jobsite visits.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Travel to job sites to meet clients
  • Review service order
  • Perform on-site inspection and diagnosis of window or door concerns
  • Professionally greet and communicate with customers
  • Identify and troubleshoot moderate to complex issues
  • Repair products
  • Safely use hand and power tools
  • Prepare required documentation and reporting for all jobsite visits
  • Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
  • Interact and communicate with employees and customers in an appropriate manner.
  • Availability on site to confer with staff members with whom the employee must interact on a regular basis.
  • Review and analyze data and information concerning service needs.
  • Plan, prioritize and monitor repair activities.
  • Complete assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner.

Supervisory Responsibility

No direct management or supervisory responsibilities.

Safety

Observe safety and security policies and procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment; report potentially unsafe conditions; and use equipment and materials properly. Follow job-specific safety requirements such as Ladder Safety, Power and Manual Tool Safety, Lift and Scaffold Safety. The individual must follow all safe driving laws and any on-site safety requirements.

Travel

Extensive travel throughout the United States is required. Work is performed at the customer's home or place of business. Overnight travel is normally required. Service trucks depart early Monday and return Friday afternoons. Occasional weekend work is possible. Meal per diems and are provided and hotel charges are covered.

Qualifications

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a field service technician or similar role
  • Must have a proficient mechanical comprehension of windows and doors
  • Must be comfortable with heights and working off lifts
  • Must have a valid Class E driver's license and a safe driving record
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle
  • Proficient and safe use of hand and power tools
  • Must be able to use navigation tools

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or a passed General Education Development test required

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Extensive travel throughout the United States is required and hours will vary. A minimum of 40 hours per week will be required. Trucks will depart early Monday and return Friday afternoons, but this is subject to change. Occasional weekend work is a possibility.

The employee must be able to:

  • Regularly lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 125 pounds through team lift;
  • Work shifts of at least 8-10 hours, and occasionally longer, for 5 days each week;
  • Stand for prolonged periods, and
  • Bend, climb, twist or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or pull as necessary.
  • Vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

It is an essential job function and safety rule, applicable to every employee working in a safety sensitive classified position, to be able to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to climactic variations, fumes or airborne particles, various levels of vibration, and moving mechanical parts. Various different types of Personal Protective Equipment might be required based on the employee's work location. The noise level in the work environment may require hearing protection.
