How much do qiskit jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 10, 2026, the average hourly pay for qiskit in the United States is $26.34, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $15.14 and $30.77 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

Is there a career in quantum computing?

A career in quantum computing involves roles such as quantum software engineers, researchers, and developers who work with quantum algorithms, programming languages like Qiskit, and quantum hardware. These jobs typically require strong backgrounds in physics, computer science, or engineering, and often involve working in research labs or tech companies focused on quantum technology development.

Is Qiskit paid?

Qiskit is an open-source quantum computing framework developed by IBM, and using it is free. However, jobs related to Qiskit, such as quantum software engineers or researchers, are paid positions typically requiring relevant skills in quantum programming and software development. Compensation depends on the employer and the specific role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Qiskit position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Qiskit-related role, you need a strong background in quantum computing, programming (especially Python), and a degree in physics, computer science, or a related field. Proficiency with Qiskit—the open-source quantum computing framework—as well as experience in using Jupyter Notebooks and cloud quantum platforms, is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, collaboration, and effective communication are valuable soft skills. These skills are essential for building algorithms, troubleshooting quantum circuits, and working effectively in multi-disciplinary research or development teams.

What is a Qiskit job?

In Qiskit, a job refers to a quantum computation task that is executed on a backend, such as a quantum simulator or a real quantum device. When you submit a circuit for execution using Qiskit, it is packaged as a job and sent to the selected backend. The job runs asynchronously, meaning you can check its status, retrieve results, and manage multiple jobs simultaneously. This allows efficient execution of quantum programs on cloud-based or local quantum hardware.

What tech jobs pay 400,000 a year?

High-paying tech roles such as senior software engineers, machine learning engineers, and data scientists can earn $400,000 or more annually, especially with experience, specialized skills, and in leadership positions. These roles often require advanced knowledge of programming, cloud platforms, and sometimes certifications or advanced degrees.

What can I do with Qiskit?

Qiskit is an open-source software development kit for working with quantum computers. As a developer or researcher, you can use Qiskit to create, simulate, and run quantum algorithms on real or simulated quantum hardware, often requiring knowledge of quantum mechanics and programming in Python. It is widely used in quantum computing research, education, and development of quantum applications.

What are some typical responsibilities for professionals working in Qiskit roles?

Professionals working in Qiskit roles often design, simulate, and implement quantum algorithms, troubleshoot code, and collaborate with both quantum physicists and software engineers. Their daily tasks may include developing and optimizing circuits, contributing to open-source projects, and writing technical documentation to support the community. Depending on the organization, they may also lead workshops or participate in research initiatives. Working with Qiskit offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of quantum technology, and often includes frequent collaboration with diverse, international teams.
