Job description

Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities: The HSA is responsible for leadership, direction, management, and evaluation of all operations for designated site with a direct reporting relationship to the Regional Director of Nursing. He/she is responsible for ensuring all operations are following contract requirements, QCHC policies & procedures, and nursing standards of care.

Pay Rate: $47/hr

  • Formulate staffing patterns in congruence with contract requirements and ensure compliance.
  • Utilize QCHC manuals, policies, and procedures to guide treatment of inmates and appropriate actions with nursing staff.
  • Interview/Hire new staff to ensure staffing requirements are met.
  • Coordinate new employee orientation and ensure completion of documentation.
  • Assess clinical skills of each staff member relative to job responsibilities and identify ways to educate and correct any deficiencies.
  • Ensure all nursing activities follow required standards and regulations.
  • Ensure daily nursing task are completed within prescribed timeframe.
  • Foster support and cooperation with jail staff and administration to promote teamwork and fulfillment of QCHC’s mission.
  • Conduct staff meetings at least monthly to ensure all staff are informed and current on important information at all times.
  • Completes annual performance evaluations.
  • Assist with payroll review and ensure time and worked hours are correct for all staff
  • Identify expected clinical outcomes goals and develop tools for measuring results of these outcome goals.
  • Work closely with physicians, and clinical staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Perform inmate care in accordance with physician orders and standards of nursing practice.
  • Assist the Medical Director/Director of Nursing in pharmacy utilization reviews.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in evaluation of the following on an annual basis and as needed: Orientation Program, Competency Evaluations, Ongoing Education, CQI program and Annual Review.
  • Ensure participation in CQI activities.
  • Plan, direct, and participate in the development of new and/or revised nursing policies and procedures.
  • Assist with budgetary planning and operate within budget goals
  • Identify equipment and capital equipment needs and submit request to corporate.
  • Formulate and submit weekly and monthly reports to corporate per scheduled timeline
  • Attend ALL mandatory meetings and 80% of non-mandatory meetings a year.
  • Follow QCHC policies, procedures & guidelines
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned / needed to include any and all clinical duties

Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Valid/current Nursing License from the state of employment.
  • Current CPR
  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing practice with 1-2 years of administrative/management experience preferred.
  • One year of experience in correctional healthcare preferred.
