Quality Control Technician

Join Our Team

Are you passionate about quality, precision, and ensuring products meet the highest standards? We are seeking a Quality Control Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this hands-on laboratory role, you will perform analytical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality specifications and customer requirements.

Working closely with Production, Operations, and Research & Development, you'll play a critical role in maintaining product quality, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and helping deliver exceptional products to our customers.

What You'll Do

Product Testing & Quality Analysis

Perform laboratory testing on production samples using established quality procedures and test methods.
Analyze products including coatings, powders, and specialty chemical formulations for:
Solids content
pH
Conductivity
Viscosity
Specific gravity
Moisture content (Karl Fischer Titration)
Particle size (sieve analysis)
Spectrophotometer/color analysis
Temperature stability
Conduct chemical testing including sodium hypochlorite dilution (ppm) and caustic concentration (%).
Evaluate test results and communicate any out-of-specification conditions to Production and Quality leadership.

Raw Material Inspection

Inspect and test incoming raw materials to verify they meet quality specifications after production.
Test materials including:
Bulk tanker deliveries
Caustic
Fatty acids
Bulk powders and micro prills
Calcium stearate
Talc
Urea
Maintain raw material Certificates of Analysis (COA) database.

Laboratory Equipment & Calibration

Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment including:
pH meters
Viscometers
Solids analyzers
Conductivity meters
Specific gravity equipment
Karl Fischer analyzers
Scales
Thermometers
Maintain calibration records to support ISO and quality system compliance.

Laboratory Operations

Follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and established safety procedures.
Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization.
Manage laboratory inventory and retain sample storage.
Enter testing data into company quality systems and databases.
Generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for customer shipments.
Support investigations of quality concerns and assist with corrective actions.
Prepare specialty products and perform product dilutions as needed.
Monitor product viscosity trends and quality metrics.
Assist Research & Development with product scale-up activities and method development.
Train and orient new laboratory personnel on laboratory procedures and quality standards.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Quality Control laboratory or chemical manufacturing environment.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately perform laboratory testing and document results.
Ability to interpret specifications, procedures, and test methods.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Proficiency with computer systems and data entry.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Biology, or another scientific discipline.
Experience working in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment.
Experience with laboratory instrumentation calibration and maintenance.
Knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes and quality systems.

Work Environment

This position is based in both a laboratory and manufacturing environment. Employees may be exposed to varying temperatures, noise, dust, vapors, and other manufacturing conditions. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, gloves, hearing protection, uniforms, respirators, and other required safety equipment, will be provided.
