Job description

The QA Technician will assure and monitor for the adherence to GMPs, SOPs, Food Safety regulations, and product and customer specifications. The QA Technician will be responsible to gather raw material and finished good samples and perform testing to ensure that the product meets specification. Primary focus will be on product testing in the QA Lab. This position reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager.

Core Responsibilities:ย 

  • Sample and test incoming ingredients, labels, and packaging materials
  • Organize and maintain retain samples
  • Perform pre-operational inspection and verify line start up procedures
  • Environmental sampling and testing
  • Monitor production processes
  • Random checks for compliance to GMPs and SOPs
  • Lot code verifications
  • Verify and monitor CCPs
  • Perform In process quality checks and AQLs
  • Prepare samples for 3rd party laboratory testing
  • Maintain hold and release program, Release finished goods and manage release logs
  • Internal GMP Auditing
  • Perform in process testing (organoleptic, physical testing, allergen testing)
  • Follow up on adherence to pre-requisite programs. Verify documentation for Sanitation logs, PM logs, building cleaning logs, Pest Control logs, daily calibration verification logs, etc.
  • Perform and monitor calibration verifications and perform internal calibration of lab equipment
  • Assist with Customer Complaint investigations, detected non-conformances, Corrective Actions,ย Rework, etc.
  • Initiate and assign Corrective Actions and follow up on and assist in closing outstanding Corrective Actions
  • Review end of production paperwork
  • Occasionally create Certificates of Analysis
  • Assist in the maintenance and creation of specification sheets
  • Train Team Members on GMP and Food Safety principles
  • Ensure Food Safety, and Food Defense and Security, and adherence to Current Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Assist in the management of other Quality Management System programs and logs to ensure food safety and quality
  • Cross train and back up QA Technician and QA Data Specialist, as needed
  • Assist in writing, reviewing and revising production paperwork, SOPs and forms
  • Assist with other Quality Department projects and responsibilities, as needed
  • Assist in teaching and enforcing GMP, SQF, and regulatory principles
  • Meet Quality KPIs consistently

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; and to talk; or hear. Ability to lift and/ or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color and depth vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud. Exposure to allergens such as Soy, Wheat, Tree Nuts, Milk/Dairy, eggs, peanut, etc.

Qualifications:ย 

  • Minimum one-year experience in Quality Assurance
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office and ERP preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to manage time wisely and able to work with little to no supervision
  • Ability to understand and share Quality Assurance, SQF and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to develop effective and appropriate formal communications, including plans and schedules.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated desire for continuous improvement processes within scope of responsibilities.

  • Assist Honeyville Managers in the removal of barriers preventing company goals and objectives from be obtained.
  • On-time completion of Corrective actions and other assignments.
  • Collaborate with other Quality team members, Warehouse team members to ensure on time delivery and that quality objectives are met.
