Business Unit Overview
8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings' private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. ("THL"), a private equity firm.
Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the timely and effective implementation of all company policies and procedures involved in the production of quality manufactured products.
The qualified individual will maintain a positive working relationship with all other departments and Quality Technicians in an effort to meet and maintain product quality while identifying and solving problems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervises, trains and schedules work of Quality Technicians in the performance of quality analysis, reinforcing quality standards of raw ingredients and finished goods.
  • Monitors daily analyses, tests, product holds and other lab activities
  • Manages the sampling process, documentation, and release of finished goods while ensuring regulatory compliance and customer specifications are met
  • Analyzes and reports on point of origination of quality discrepancies. Works with department managers to determine cause and corrective action
  • Manages communication to Managers on customer concerns and complaints and participates in communicating responses to customers as directed
  • Coordinates plant sanitation program activities including pest, insect and rodent control programs, internal and third-party audits, and regulatory inspections
  • Coordinates GMP, quality and HACCP training for staff
  • Participates in the identification of improvements and changes to quality assurance, sanitation and food safety programs
  • Purchases supplies for quality assurance, and food safety
  • Other duties, as assigned

Education and Experience Required:
  • 2+ years' work experience in food plant sanitation or quality assurance
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in food related field. (Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and with others in a team environment
  • Demonstrated organizational skills & the ability to work on multiple high priority projects
  • Effective written, verbal, & interpersonal communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to strongly multi-task, organize, and prioritize
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail

Physical Requirements: Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • Must be able to lift up-to 34 pounds for 3+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds 3+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to balance, bend, kneel, crouch, stoop, walk, stand, and reach above shoulders for 3+ hours per shift
