Job description

Amentum has an opportunity for a Quality Inspector to join our team in Springfield, VA. This person will plan and direct activities concerned with the development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished material or product. Quality assurance and quality control are important aspects to this job family. Quality assurance includes all those planned and systematic actions necessary to provide adequate confidence that an item or a facility will perform satisfactorily in service. Quality control includes all those aspects of quality assurance, which provides a means of control and measures the characteristics of an item, process or facility to established requirements.
Responsibilities:
  • Guides and directs lower level personnel on the set-up and performance of tests.
  • Acts as liaison with outside suppliers in establishing or modifying specifications for purchased items.
  • Devises and applies testing procedures for parts or sub-assemblies received from outside vendors.
  • Participates in the development, maintenance, and refinement of internal quality control and reliability programs.
  • Ensures that the company and customer's requirements are met on assigned products, programs, areas, or functions.
  • Recommends corrective action to quality problems.
  • Provides technical support and advises other engineering groups.
  • May work in any of the following areas of quality control/assurance engineering: design, incoming material, process control, product evaluation, inventory control, product reliability, research and development and administrative application.
  • Ensures adherence to company policies, procedures, and related government regulations.
  • Under limited supervision performs work that is varied and that is somewhat difficult in character.
  • Participates in project-wide system audits and surveillance, including supplier or subcontractor audits or surveillance to approved audit checklists and procedures.
  • Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
  • Interprets product quality trends.
  • May lead workers engaged in measuring, testing, and tabulating data concerning quality and reliability.
  • May compile and write training material and conduct training sessions on quality control activities.
  • Reviews drawings, process procedures, procurement documents, and quality control reports.
  • Identifies and reports quality problems or trends.
  • May specialize in particular area of quality control engineering, such as design, incoming material, process control, product evaluation, inventory control, product reliability, research and development, and administrative application.
  • Identify data discrepancies, errors, and inconsistencies, and work with stakeholders to implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Archibus administrators and facilities managers to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations, security policies, and data governance standards.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform root cause analysis of quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review and approve work orders to ensure proper completion and data entry.

Minimum Knowledge:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or demonstrated equivalent and 2+ years of experience in area of specialization.
  • Preparation for auditor certificate or equivalent desired.
  • Experience working in a secure environment.
  • Archibus certification; experience with CMMS systems other than Archibus is a plus.
  • Mandatory: Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance principles and methodologies (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment:
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting and use of a computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. Must possess planning/organization skills and must be able to work under deadlines. And able to walk (inside and outside) of the facility.
Salary Range: $85,000 - $90,000
