Salary Range: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour

QA/QC Intern – Quality Assurance & Documentation

Full-time hours available; part-time schedules may be accommodated for students based on class schedules.

Position Summary

The QA/QC Intern will assist the QA & Documentation Manager with quality assurance, quality control, document management, and process improvement activities. The intern will gain practical experience supporting SOP development, process documentation, quality records, reporting, and other QA/QC initiatives within a transit and rail operations environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with developing, reviewing, and maintaining SOPs, work instructions, forms, and other documentation.
  • Assist with process mapping, workflow documentation, and identifying process improvement opportunities.
  • Support document control, quality records, tracking logs, and reporting.
  • Assist with audits, inspections, documentation reviews, and corrective action tracking.
  • Prepare and organize reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and other QA/QC materials.
  • Conduct research and assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate and organized electronic and physical records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the QA & Documentation Manager.

Qualifications

  • Recent graduate or currently pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Engineering, Business, Operations, Transportation, Technical Writing, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous coursework or experience in quality, compliance, process improvement, or technical documentation is preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and navigate office and operational areas.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to review detailed documents and computer screens.

Work Environment

Primarily office based with periodic exposure to transit, rail, maintenance, and operational environments. May include exposure to noise, equipment, moving vehicles, weather conditions, dust, and uneven surfaces. PPE may be required in designated areas.
