DevOps Engineer

Description
Metropolitan Companies is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support and scale our internal development and infrastructure platforms. This role is focused on building and maintaining modern deployment pipelines, automating infrastructure, and enabling efficient, reliable software delivery across the organization.
This position reports to the Director of IT and works closely with development teams to streamline workflows from development through production, improve system reliability, and drive automation across our environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated build, test, and deployment processes
  • Collaborate with development teams to deploy, monitor, and scale applications in cloud and hybrid environments
  • Manage and optimize containerized applications using Docker and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, ECS, or similar)
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code using tools such as Terraform or Ansible
  • Build and maintain automated deployment and release processes across dev, staging, and production environments
  • Manage environment configuration, secrets, and secure application settings (Doppler, Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, etc.)
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure system performance and reliability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve deployment, pipeline, and infrastructure-related issues
  • Improve system scalability, availability, and fault tolerance through automation and architecture improvements
  • Partner with development teams to improve application performance and operational efficiency
  • Maintain and evolve cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Develop scripts and tooling to automate operational tasks (PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.)
  • Document infrastructure, pipelines, and deployment processes

  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Strong scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar)
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Git-based workflows and version control best practices
  • Working knowledge of networking, DNS, SSL, and security best practices
  • Experience managing application environments (Java/Spring Boot, Node.js/Next.js, or similar)
  • Experience with database environments (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL) is a plus
