Key Responsibilities
1. Architecture & Solution Design
Design scalable, secure, and high-performing integration architectures using AWS-native services such as:
Amazon API Gateway
AWS Lambda
AWS Step Functions
Amazon EventBridge
Amazon SQS/SNS
Amazon MQ
Amazon AppFlow
AWS AppSync
AWS Glue (for integration/data pipelines)
Define and govern integration patterns (request/response, pub-sub, event-driven, fan-out, orchestration vs choreography, messaging patterns).
Evaluate and modernize legacy integrations (MuleSoft, BizTalk, ESB) using AWS-native services.
2. API & Event-Driven Architecture
Define API taxonomy and governance (REST, GraphQL, async APIs).
Lead API design with OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
Architect event-driven systems using EventBridge, SNS, Kafka (MSK), or Kinesis.
3. Security, Compliance & Governance
Implement robust security patterns:
IAM policies
Resource-based policies
API throttling & WAF integration
Encryption (KMS)
Secret management
Ensure architectural compliance with enterprise and industry standards.
4. Delivery Leadership
Lead technical discussions with clients, product owners, and developers.
Provide architectural oversight across SDLC-from requirements to go-live.
Review and optimize integration code, API specs, workflows, and pipelines.
Support migration roadmaps, discovery workshops, and integration assessments.
5. Performance & Optimization
Design solutions for high throughput and low latency workloads.
Optimize cost by selecting appropriate AWS services and scaling strategies.
Troubleshoot complex integration issues across distributed systems.
6. Documentation & Best Practices
Prepare high-quality artifacts:
HLD/LLD
Integration decision matrices
API governance standards
Runbooks & operational guidelines
Establish reusable integration accelerators and frameworks.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
10+ years in integration architecture, with 4+ years on AWS.
Strong hands-on experience with:
Serverless (Lambda, Step Functions)
API Gateway (REST/HTTP/WebSocket)
EventBridge & SNS/SQS
Amazon MQ / MSK Kafka
CloudWatch, X-Ray for observability
VPC networking for hybrid integrations
Strong knowledge of enterprise integration patterns (EIP).
Experience with migration from ESB/MuleSoft/BizTalk to AWS-native services.
Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Java, Node.js).
Cloud & DevOps Skills
CI/CD using CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
Infrastructure-as-Code (CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform).
Container-based integration (ECS, EKS, Fargate) is a plus.
Soft Skills
Excellent communication and client-facing consulting skills.
Ability to simplify complex integration problems.
Strong leadership and stakeholder management.
Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
