Job title and description: Student Research Assistant

Students will participate in a NASA research project on Astrophysics, focused on modeling Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs). This work will be carried out in collaboration with researchers at Oregon State University, Stony Brook University, and NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. The scope of work may include: 1) Computational modeling of the afterglows of GRBs, both real and simulated. 2) Improve and update afterglow fitting and modeling codes, including implementing additional physics. 3) Carrying out numerical simulations of relativistic shocks.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Astronomy and Physics knowledge.
* Experience in programming languages such as Python and C++.
* Experience working in Linux operating systems and in cluster computing.
