Ashley Furniture Industries, LLC has multiple openings for Manager of Continuous Improvement & Automation in Redlands, CA.
Lead strategic initiatives to optimize distribution center operations through advanced automation solutions, data-driven process improvements, and layout optimization. This role combines technical expertise in automation systems with deep operational knowledge to drive efficiency gains and competitive advantage across Ashley's DC network. Evaluate and recommend automation technologies (conveyors, AS/RS, robotics, WMS upgrades) for optimal ROI. Collaborate with Chinese automation vendors to source cost-effective solutions. Lead automation pilot programs and full-scale implementations across DC network. Develop business cases and ROI analysis for automation investments. Design and modify DC layouts using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar). Conduct process simulation and modeling to optimize workflows and throughput Lead lean manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to eliminate waste and improve efficiency. Implement continuous improvement methodologies across all DC operations. Utilize SQL and advanced analytics tools (Python, R, Tableau, Power BI) to analyze operational data. Develop KPIs and performance dashboards for automation and process effectiveness. Conduct statistical analysis to identify improvement opportunities and validate solutions. Create predictive models for capacity planning and resource optimization. Partner with DC managers to identify operational challenges and improvement opportunities. Lead cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and automation solutions. Develop standard operating procedures for new technologies and optimized processes. Partner with Training team to build training content to teach DC personnel on new systems, processes, and continuous improvement methodologies. Develop long-term automation and improvement roadmaps for DC network. Manage multiple simultaneous projects with budgets ranging from $100K to $5M+. Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders for project execution. Report progress and recommendations to senior leadership. Domestic travel is required 25% to 30% of the time.
Job Requirements
Position requires a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related, and 5 years of experience in automation in warehouse/distribution environments or related.
Also, must have experience in:
  • CAD Software Proficiency: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar layout design tools.
  • Process Simulation: Arena, AnyLogic, FlexSim, Siemens Plant Simulation, or similar simulation software.
  • Data Analysis: Advanced SQL skills and proficiency with analytics tools including Python, R, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Automation Knowledge: Warehouse automation systems including WMS, WCS, conveyor systems, and robotics.
  • LMS Knowledge: Labor Management Systems for workforce optimization and productivity tracking.
  • WES Knowledge: Understanding of Warehouse Execution Systems for real-time operational control and automation coordination.
  • Statistical Analysis: statistical process control.
  • Deep Knowledge of DC Operations: Comprehensive understanding of warehouse processes, labor management, inventory control, and operational metrics across all functions.
  • Project Management: Managing multiple projects simultaneously with competing priorities.

SALARY: $143,978.00 to $163,978.00 per year
