Candidates is able to take the code assessment in quick time

Team & Reporting Structure:

- It is important to note this is a standalone position. It is a lead role in that they are driving technical direction but there are no developers or team reporting into themTechnical Scope:
- This is not a traditional application development role, it is less about long term app builds and more project-based technical problem solving
- We need someone who can understand, integrate and advise on third-party tools and APIs, specifically third-party AI tools. An example would be Writer AI, a tool the marketing team is currently integrating
- They will need to work with the marketing team, interpret their needs and translate them into technical solutions
- They will be advising on build vs. buy decisions, aka should they integrate a vendor product or build inhouse. They are guiding on technical direction rather than just executing on assigned tasks (can't stress this point enough!)

Key Skills:

  • Expected to have development skills, especially backend (Python).
  • May need to write and test code, especially related to APIs or internal integrations
  • Not frontend-focused, though general familiarity may be helpful
  • API integration expertise (critical).
  • Understanding of AI tools and infrastructure (e.g., AWS stack, Bedrock, SageMaker, etc.)
  • Experience with content generation/summarization tools like Writer API is a bonus
  • Needs enough technical breadth to understand what’s possible in-house vs. what needs to be outsourced

Formal JD:

About the Role: We are seeking a highly motivated and creative AI Developer to join our team. You will work on the cutting edge of enterprise artificial intelligence, helping to prototype and build applications for Vanguard advisors. We are looking for someone who thrives in uncertainty, loves tinkering with new ideas, and can turn loosely defined problems into working code.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Senior Product Manager on end objectives to help design and iterate on end-client products.
  • Explore new AI models, frameworks, and techniques to solve challenging problems.
  • Build Proofs-of-Concepts that can scale into production level tools.
  • Analyze experimental results, document findings, and suggest next steps.
  • Stay current with the latest industry breakthroughs.
  • Help compare vendors and solutions to inform roadmaps.

Qualifications:

  • Strong programming skills in python
  • Experience building and consuming APIs; familiarity with cloud platforms
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Familiarity with working on LLMS, generative models, or reinforcement learning
  • Experience with prompt engineering or fine-tuning models
