Job Title: Infrastructure Solutions Architect 5

Location: Lansing, MI (Hybrid 3 days in-office per week)

Duration: 12 months (with potential for extension)

Position Overview

The Department is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Solutions Architect to join our team. This role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing infrastructure solutions to meet the state's technological needs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in system administration, scripting, workload management, and storage solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Administration: Manage and maintain Linux systems, focusing on Ubuntu, with an emphasis on security and networking.
  • Scripting & Automation: Utilize Bash and Python scripting to automate tasks and streamline processes. Experience with pipeline automation tools like Nextflow is preferred.
  • Workload Management: Install, configure, and troubleshoot Slurm workload manager to efficiently handle job scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Cluster & Storage Management: Oversee cluster operations and storage solutions, including NAS systems like Qumulo, and implement strategies using tools like rsync for data synchronization.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure infrastructure solutions align with organizational goals and standards.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Linux system administration, particularly with Ubuntu.
  • 10+ years of proficiency in Bash and Python scripting, with experience in pipeline automation.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with Slurm workload manager, including installation, configuration, and job troubleshooting.
  • 10+ years of expertise in cluster and storage management, specifically with NAS systems like Qumulo, and data synchronization tools like rsync.
  • Strong understanding of networking principles and security best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
