Job Title: Python AWS Cloud Developer
Location: Queens, NY (Hybrid)

Overview:
We are seeking a Python AWS Cloud Developer who will support our NYC client. This role will support Revenue Fare Management Systems through back-office web application development, legacy revenue application support, and development for the New Fare Payment System. The developer will build Python-based web applications and APIs, support cloud deployment on AWS, and contribute to efforts to unify revenue applications across rail operations.
Duties:
  • Develop and implement custom Python modules, web applications, and APIs for revenue and fare management systems.
  • Develop and deploy real-time transaction capabilities that support ticket validation.
  • Build web application frontends for internal applications and external customer-facing applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams through daily meetings, planning sessions, reviews, and routine status stand-ups.
  • Create and maintain development tooling and technical documentation, and participate in code reviews.
  • Provide level-of-effort estimates, recommend feature priorities, and assist with release and deployment planning and execution.
  • Create user-friendly interfaces and test cross-browser, cross-platform, and cross-device compatibility.
  • Test applications for applicable accessibility standards and review designs using observational user testing and usability heuristics.

Mandatory Qualifications:
  • Experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to develop high-quality code, solve complex problems, and advise on design issues.
  • Understanding of how to develop successful online customer experiences.
  • Experience building web-based applications and APIs.
  • Solid understanding of AJAX, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
  • Python web development experience, including familiarity with Django and FastAPI frameworks.
  • AWS Cloud Developer experience and/or AWS certification.
  • Experience developing and configuring AWS API Gateway.
  • Experience with Docker containerization.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, including Amazon EKS.
  • Experience with AWS IAM / Identity Center.
  • Knowledge of server and serverless deployment strategies.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux OS scripting languages, including PowerShell and Bash.
  • Solid understanding of SQL and Oracle PL/SQL.
  • Familiarity or experience with financial or revenue applications.

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of SEO coding best practices.
  • Knowledge and/or advanced-level experience with Python, PHP, SQL, and Oracle PL/SQL.
  • Experience with object-oriented design and data modeling.
  • Familiarity with user experience design principles and processes.
  • Experience with third-party applications, tools, and integrations.
  • Knowledge of web application security considerations.
  • Proficiency and experience in AWS cloud development and deployment.
  • Experience with source/version control systems, including GitHub.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, time management, and analytical/problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with deadlines and new challenges.

Educational & Certification Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or a combination of related education and experience.
