This position will involve collaboration with developers, scientists, product managers, and other internal teams to build and maintain both customer-facing applications and internal software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Front-End Development

  • Build, maintain, and enhance user interfaces and reusable components for the company's internal Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Collaborate with laboratory personnel to understand testing processes and translate business requirements into practical user flows.
  • Create and maintain WordPress websites, including landing pages, informational content, and blog functionality.
  • Develop and maintain e-commerce websites using a headless Shopify approach.
  • Build custom front-end experiences based on established designs, functionality requirements, and project specifications.

Back-End Development

  • Develop and maintain server-side functionality supporting the company's internal LIMS.
  • Update existing backend functionality to support new laboratory tests, workflows, and operational requirements.
  • Assist with database design, schema modifications, and overall database architecture.
  • Build integrations with third-party platforms and services through RESTful APIs.
  • Develop backend functionality that connects e-commerce and business systems with services such as Shopify, Klaviyo, SendGrid, Twilio, and Stripe.
  • Create and maintain middleware that facilitates the transfer, synchronization, and organization of information between internal systems and external applications.
  • Troubleshoot and improve existing applications to support reliability, performance, and usability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Working knowledge of React and/or Next.js, along with HTML and CSS.
  • Experience developing backend applications using Python-based frameworks, such as Django or Flask.
  • Understanding of REST API development and integration.
  • Familiarity with Git and other version-control practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical team members.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and take on increasingly complex development responsibilities.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in the following areas will be especially valuable:

  • Developing Shopify websites, particularly using a headless architecture.
  • Working with content management platforms such as Sanity.
  • Using Docker for application development and deployment.
  • Working with CI/CD pipelines and development automation tools.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services, including S3, SQS, API Gateway, Lambda, or similar services.
  • Experience integrating multiple third-party platforms and APIs.
