Job description

Role Summary

bp is seeking a QA Lead โ€“ Test Automation Engineer to drive quality strategy, automation delivery, and test execution across critical enterprise applications supporting the energy and utilities business. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on automation expertise, leadership experience, and a background in utility or energy environments where reliability, compliance, and system integrity are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Lead QA strategy, test planning, and automation execution across multiple projects and releases.

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and regression suites for UI, API, and integration testing.

  • Partner with product owners, developers, business analysts, and operations teams to define test coverage and acceptance criteria.

  • Oversee test execution, defect triage, root-cause analysis, and reporting of quality metrics.

  • Build and maintain automation solutions aligned with Agile/DevOps delivery practices and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Identify opportunities to improve test efficiency, reduce manual effort, and increase coverage through automation.

  • Mentor QA team members and provide technical guidance on testing best practices, standards, and tools.

Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in QA, test automation, or software testing.

  • 3+ years in a QA lead or senior automation role.

  • Strong experience with Selenium, Java or Python, TestNG/JUnit, API testing, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.

  • Experience designing scalable automation frameworks and maintaining regression test suites.

  • Background in utility, energy, oil & gas, or related regulated enterprise environments.

  • Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, defect management, and release processes.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Playwright, Cypress, Cucumber, REST Assured, or similar tools.

  • Knowledge of enterprise systems, data validation, and integration testing.

  • Familiarity with SAP, Oracle, cloud platforms, or operational technology environments.

  • ISTQB or similar QA certification.
