The Data Engineering and Metadata Management team is on a continuous journey toward helping TELUS become a world-class leader in data solutions by ensuring the delivery of robust data products, high-quality data, and comprehensive metadata solutions built upon unified, scalable platforms and advanced AI tooling.


We are searching for a talented candidate to fill the position of Data Engineering Developer within our Metadata Management and Data Quality team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing metadata products and implementing integrations using TELUS established standards and best practices. As a key technical team member in our cloud-first organization, you will leverage your expertise to develop metadata products including the integration to upstream and downstream systems. This role combines advanced technical proficiency in metadata management, data engineering (SQL, Python), Collibra's Data Intelligence Platform and cloud architecture with hands-on development experience in Java, APIs, Groovy and GCP tools.

What you will do
  • Develop and support a variety of integrations, custom and out of the box connectors to ensure reliable and consistent processing to our Metadata Inventory platform
  • Develop and support process workflows to ensure technical and business process automation
  • Develop reporting and monitoring solutions to ensure platform health
  • Administer and configure Collibra Data Intelligence Platform
  • Assess various technical solution options related to metadata capabilities and recommend the best approach balancing constraints and future needs
  • Monitor, identify and resolve metadata platform and integrations issues impacting platform availability and usability
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities in development and production processes to reduce manual effort
What you bring
  • 3+ years delivering IT platform implementations in technical roles
  • Hold bachelor of Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent
  • You are sought out for your strong understanding of Metadata Management, Data Quality, Data Lineage, Data Management and Data Engineering.
  • You are respected for your knowledge of Solution Development and Data Management Lifecycles.
  • You are hands on in Windows Operating Systems, Unix, Linux and with GCP Kubernetes (GKE).
  • Advanced technical proficiency in metadata management, Collibra's Data Intelligence Platform
  • Experience developing microservices, RESTful APIs, and data processing services using Spring Boot or equivalent frameworks.
  • Strong SQL proficiency with experience writing complex queries, stored procedures, and working with relational databases
  • Strong Working knowledge of security architecture and cloud native development on GCP Cloud (Dataflow, Composer, Cloud Run, Cloud Scheduler, Dataproc, Workflow etc)
  • Experience with Dataplex / Knowledge Catalogue and other Data Governance & Metadata Platforms
  • Strong experience and knowledge for data engineering principles and best practices and the associated technologies with it
  • Proficiency with programming languages including Python, Java, and Groovy
  • Proficiency with GCP enterprise database technologies such as BigQuery and Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL or SQL Server)
  • Strong understanding of database technologies including Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL
  • You communicate with clarity and confidence, collaborating across technical and business teams to align on goals and drive outcomes.
