Python Software Engineer Ubuntu Server Certification information

What is a python software engineer ubuntu server certification?

Python Software Engineer Ubuntu Server Certification jobs involve developing, testing, and maintaining software applications written in Python, with a focus on ensuring compatibility and performance on Ubuntu Server environments. These professionals are responsible for writing efficient code, automating processes, and sometimes contributing to open-source projects related to Ubuntu. The 'certification' aspect refers to validating that applications or solutions meet Ubuntu Server's standards and requirements. This role often requires expertise in both Python programming and Linux system administration, as well as knowledge of Ubuntu's certification processes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a python software engineer with Ubuntu Server certification?

To thrive as a Python Software Engineer with Ubuntu Server Certification, you need strong programming skills in Python, experience with server-side development, and a solid understanding of Linux system administration, typically demonstrated by obtaining Ubuntu Server Certification. Familiarity with tools like Git, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and frameworks such as Django or Flask is common, along with proficiency in Ubuntu server environments. Problem-solving, effective communication, and teamwork are essential soft skills that help engineers collaborate and troubleshoot efficiently. These combined skills ensure robust, secure, and scalable software solutions in dynamic development and server management environments.

What are some unique challenges faced by python software engineers working on Ubuntu Server certification projects?

Python Software Engineers involved in Ubuntu Server Certification often encounter challenges related to ensuring compatibility across a diverse range of hardware and software environments. They must rigorously test scripts and automation tools to work seamlessly with various Ubuntu Server releases and hardware vendors’ platforms. Additionally, engineers need to stay updated on both Ubuntu’s evolving certification requirements and best practices for reliable, scalable automation. Collaboration with QA teams, hardware partners, and upstream developers is essential to quickly resolve issues and maintain high certification standards.

What is the difference between Python Software Engineer Ubuntu Server Certification vs Python Developer?

AspectPython Software Engineer Ubuntu Server CertificationPython Developer
CertificationsOften requires Ubuntu Server Certification, Linux certifications, and Python expertiseMay have Python certifications but not necessarily Ubuntu-specific
Work EnvironmentPrimarily Linux/Ubuntu server environments, cloud platforms, and backend systemsVaried environments including web, desktop, and data analysis
Industry UsageTech companies, cloud providers, and organizations using Linux-based infrastructureStartups, software firms, and diverse industries

The main difference is that Python Software Engineer Ubuntu Server Certification focuses on Linux-based backend systems with specific Ubuntu expertise, while Python Developers may work across various environments without Linux-specific certifications. The former emphasizes server management and deployment, whereas the latter often involves application development across multiple platforms.

Job description

ABOUT VICTORY LIVE

Victory Live is a private equity backed technology company aimed at maximizing distribution and yield for live event ticket inventory. We provide an end-to-end software platform for the live ticketing industry, managing thousands of sports, theater, and live music event tickets on behalf of artists, promoters, teams, venues, and professional resellers. Victory Live's comprehensive offerings include an established B2B marketplace, along with both a full-service and an automated SaaS platform to handle all elements of the ticket sales lifecycle, from ingestion to sales fulfillment.

THE POSITION

Victory Live is looking for a Mid-Level Software Engineer to build and maintain features across our Python and FastAPI services. You'll own well-scoped pieces of our B2B marketplace and ticketing platform end to end, from design through production, working closely with senior engineers who'll help you level up.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ship features. Build and maintain services in FastAPI, from a scoped design through code review to production.
  • Write tests that hold. Cover your code with pytest so regressions show up in CI, not in production.
  • Debug production issues. Use logs, metrics, and Datadog dashboards to trace bugs to root cause.
  • Work within our data layer. Write efficient SQLAlchemy queries and Alembic migrations that don't lock production tables.
  • Handle background and async work. Build and monitor Celery tasks and async FastAPI endpoints.
  • Take code review seriously. Review teammates' PRs and act on the feedback you get on your own.
  • Use AI tooling daily. Pair with Claude Code and Copilot for scaffolding, tests, and debugging, and learn where to trust them and where not to.
REQUIREMENTS
  • 2-4 years building production software, with at least 1-2 years in Python.
  • Comfortable building REST APIs with FastAPI and validating data with Pydantic.
  • Solid grasp of pytest and test-driven development.
  • Working knowledge of SQLAlchemy, relational databases, and database migrations.
  • Growing but genuine use of AI tooling in your day-to-day workflow.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Exposure to Celery, asyncio, or other async Python patterns.
  • Familiarity with Redis or Kafka.
  • Interest in ticketing, marketplaces, or high-transaction consumer platforms.
WHY VICTORY LIVE
  • You'll build the infrastructure live events run on; millions of tickets, hundreds of venues, many of the largest teams and events in the world.
  • A lean team where decisions move fast and your code reaches real fans, often the same week.
  • Every release has stakes. Every improvement is felt.
  • High expectations, low tolerance for politics, and a culture built on writing well and shipping with care.
OUR VALUES
  • Quality of life. Sustainable processes over heroics. Nobody should be a single point of failure, and nobody should be afraid to take a vacation.
  • Quality of code. Clarity over cleverness. If a teammate needs a long explanation to follow your code, it needs simplifying. Tests prove your work; they aren't optional.
  • Protection of production. Every change is reviewed, tested, and observable. We build with monitoring in mind from day one so we find problems before our users do.
  • Shared knowledge. We work across time zones, so we communicate in the open. Questions go in channels, not DMs, and one answer becomes shared knowledge.
ENGINEERING PRINCIPLES
  • AI-assisted engineering. Every engineer uses Claude, Claude Code, Copilot, and agentic tooling as a routine part of their workflow.
  • Async-first. Most decisions happen in writing through Jira, Confluence, PR descriptions, design docs. We over-communicate on changes and under-communicate on noise.
  • Ownership mindset. Engineers are responsible for what they write and no code reaches production without review. Reviewers are co-owners.
  • Observability is part of "done." If the on-call engineer can't understand a system without reading source, more logging, metrics, and dashboards are needed.
  • Preservation of quality of code and life. We write code that is clean, tested, and maintainable so it serves us well over time, and we build sustainable processes so no one burns out or becomes a single point of failure.
  • Shared knowledge and continued education. We grow as a team by learning from each other through reviews, documentation, and collaboration.
OUR STACK & WAYS OF WORKING
  • Python and FastAPI power our B2B marketplace, distribution integrations, and partner-facing APIs
  • Web & mobile clients, REST APIs, microservices
  • Frameworks and tools: FastAPI, Pydantic, SQLAlchemy, Alembic, Celery, pytest, Uvicorn
  • Data: Postgres, Redis, Kafka
  • Cloud & infra: AWS (RDS, ElastiCache, CloudSearch, EKS, MSK), Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker
  • AI tooling: Anthropic / Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, in-house agentic workflows
  • Observability: Datadog, Grafana, Elastic/Kibana, OpsGenie
  • Collaboration: Jira, Confluence, GitHub, Slack, Miro
  • Async-first, agile cadences, distributed onshore + offshore teams
BENEFITS & PERKS
  • Comprehensive medical coverage
  • 100% employer-paid dental, vision, life, and disability insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid parental leave
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Employee wellness and professional development opportunities
