Job description

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories seeks a Software Engineering Intern to join our Engineering Services team. This successful individual will be working with a team of engineers to participate in design, implementation, and test for software tools used for power system protection and control. If you are looking for an opportunity to advance your career and available to work full time during the summer, part time during the school year, this may be the position for you!
As a Software Engineering Intern, a typical day might include the following:
  • Supporting SEL's software development process.
  • Implementing software design and automated scripts.
  • Verifying that software meets requirements.
  • Providing support to engineering staff as needed.

This job might be for you if you:
  • Are a current student pursuing a degree in Computer Science or equivalent with at least one year of technical coursework completed, and graduating in May or December 2028.
  • Are able to work on-site in Boise, ID full-time in the summer & part-time during the school year.
  • Have experience with Python and C#.
  • Have an understanding of digital logic and Boolean equations.
  • Have optional experience with VBA, Java, Perl, Ruby and C++.
  • Are able to learn new software, understand APIs required to interact with various software platforms.
  • Are able to execute and document defined testing procedures
  • Have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
  • Are able to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  • Are able to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Have background check results satisfactory to SEL & negative drug test result(s)

This position is located in Boise, ID, capital of the gem state, and on the Boise River in the southwestern part of the state. Pay Range Data - $24.25 - $33.00 per hour
Our intern pay is determined based on the internship role (the work you would be doing) and your year in school (when you plan to graduate). Talk to your recruiter if you are curious about the rate for your year in school.
