The Opportunity with McKinstry
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer I to join our team as a member of our Engineering and Design division. Engineers at McKinstry are unsurpassed in their ability to combine innovative problem solving with common sense design applications. Because of our design, build, operate, and maintain (DBOM) process, McKinstry engineers concern themselves not just with the construction of a building, but how it will operate over its entire lifetime. Every design choice is made toward one goal - delivering high-performance buildings that ensure occupant comfort and safety, keep energy/operating costs low, maximize client profitability, and protect the environment.
Project Management
  • Documents project correspondence, issues, decisions and directions.
  • Learns and follows McKinstry Engineering standards and procedures.
  • Contributes to tasks on multiple projects and timelines concurrently.
  • Manages own workload to deliver assigned tasks on time and in the budget.
  • Identifies training, coaching, and support needed to complete assigned tasks.

Design
  • Competent in plumbing systems design, including calculations, pipe materials, equipment selection and multi-discipline coordination
  • Performs engineering calculations, design, and drafting tasks.
  • Produces design drawings and building information models for construction.
  • Pursues an understanding of the technical foundation of design activities and decisions.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry
  • Internship or one (1) year experience in related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline required or equivalent work experience required. Onsite construction experience considered and welcome.
  • In office work preferred but we have a flexible work approach.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, VBA, Python, InDesign, IES-VE, and/or other software tools welcome.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Knowledge of Revit preferred. Knowledge of other CAD/BIM tools welcome.
  • Engineering in Training Certificate required or achieved within a year of hire date.

The pay range for this position is $31.03 - $42.53 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This is a non-exempt role and will be paid hourly. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
