Position Description:

JTEC Consulting is actively hiring Mid-Level and Senior Python Software Engineers to join a specialized team developing and deploying high-impact data systems across classified federal environments in Chantilly, VA.

In this role, you will design, build, and deploy containerized microservices and backend APIs in an AWS cloud infrastructure supporting multiple active task orders across data science and software engineering initiatives. In this role you will work within an agile team of developers, data scientists, and mission experts to solve complex, data-heavy challenges.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Backend amp; API Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable backend microservices and APIs using Python and FastAPI.
  • Cloud Infrastructure amp; Deployment: Deploy, manage, and scale microservices within secure cloud environments (AWS C2S) using Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm.
  • Data Integration amp; Search: Build and optimize data pipelines and search capabilities across large-scale structured and unstructured datasets using SQLAlchemy, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, and PySpark.
  • CI/CD amp; DevOps Automation: Automate software testing, integration, and deployment using Jenkins, Git/GitHub, and shell scripting.
  • Agile Collaboration: Participate in end-to-end agile development sprints, conduct peer code reviews, and align engineering practices with security guidelines (ISSM/IA).
Education and Qualifications:
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Current TS/SCI with polygraph required for consideration
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline (equivalent years of direct experience considered in lieu of a degree).
  • Experience Level:
    • Mid-Level: 5+ years of software development experience with a focus on Python.
    • Senior Level: 8+ years of software development experience with advanced architectural design experience.
  • Core Tech Stack:
    • Modern Python development (FastAPI, Flask, or similar REST frameworks).
    • Relational amp; Object-Relational Mapping tools (e.g., SQLAlchemy, SQL databases).
    • Containerization amp; Orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, or Helm).
    • Cloud Computing experience (AWS, AWS C2S, EC2, Lambda, VPC).
    • Version Control amp; Automation (Git, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience with big data processing tools (PySpark, Airflow, Trino, NiFi, or Hadoop).
  • Experience configuring and maintaining Elasticsearch / ELK Stack or OpenSearch clusters.
  • Knowledge of additional languages (Java, C++, or Bash scripting).
  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks or data modeling techniques.
