Python Scraping professionals often encounter obstacles such as website anti-scraping measures, dynamic content loading with JavaScript, and frequent changes in website structures. Overcoming these challenges typically involves using tools like Selenium or Playwright for dynamic pages, rotating proxies and user agents to avoid detection, and writing adaptable, modular code to quickly update scrapers when site layouts change. Staying up to date with the latest libraries and best practices is vital for efficiency and compliance with legal and ethical standards.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Python scraping specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Python Scraping Specialist, you need strong proficiency in Python programming, understanding of web protocols (HTTP, HTML, CSS), and experience with libraries such as BeautifulSoup, Scrapy, or Selenium. Trend Intelligence & Marketing Activation Analyst

FAM Brands

Beverly Hills, CA

Full-time

Re-posted 7 days ago

Job description

Founded in 2000, FAM Brands designs, manufactures, and sells men's and women's sportswear and active wear apparel to major retailers, big box stores, and specialty boutiques across the country and throughout the world. Our portfolio of proprietary brands features Marika, Wildfox, Three Dots, and Balance Collection, while a partial list of licensing partners includes Orvis, Jessica Simpson, Eddie Bauer, and Woolrich.

With the capacity to produce over 75 million units per year, our mission continues to be making top-quality apparel accessible to everyone at an impressive value and an irresistible price.

That's the FAM Brands difference.

SUMMARY

We are thrilled to announce that we are building our very first proprietary trend intelligence capability! This exciting initiative will create a real-time data pipeline that monitors social media and fashion market signals across our core categories, empowering us to inform what we design, source, and sell.

This role presents a fantastic opportunity to join a small, high-impact team at the forefront of something truly meaningful. You'll have the chance to collaborate closely with the Director of AI & Emerging Technologies and a talented AI engineering team that will support you in building systems and capabilities that go above and beyond what's typical for this type of role.

But wait, there's more! This isn't just a data role; once the intelligence is surfaced, you will play a crucial part in closing the loop. You'll guide our brand, sales, design, and ambassador teams on how to take action on the insights you uncover. In some cases, you'll utilize AI tools to help draft captivating social media campaigns and e-commerce marketing content that brings the trends you've identified directly to market.

We are a dynamic team that moves fast, invests in people who are eager to invest in themselves, and provides genuine ownership to those who earn it. Join us on this exciting journey!

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Trend Intelligence

  • Identify and curate sets of social media influencers and accounts across TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, X, and Reddit that signal trend movement across FAM's core fashion and lifestyle categories.
  • Build and operate scrapers and API integrations to systematically collect post metadata, engagement signals, hashtags, captions, and visual content.
  • Support image-based analysis using OCR and AI tools to extract visual trend attributes — colors, fabrics, silhouettes, styles, and products — from influencer and social content.
  • Synthesize raw data into clear, actionable trend briefs and reports that merchandising, design, and upstream teams can act on.
  • Research and evaluate third-party trend intelligence platforms and data tools to identify gaps and opportunities for the in-house pipeline.
  • Partner with the DWI engineering team to feed data sources into a growing trend intelligence infrastructure.
  • Develop FAM's own proprietary fashion heuristics over time — a model of what predicts trend adoption across our retail channels and customer demographics.

Marketing Activation & Campaign Intelligence

  • Brief internal brand, sales, design, and ambassador teams on trend findings — translating data into clear creative and campaign direction.
  • Guide the go-to-market strategy for FAM's private label brands from a trend intelligence perspective — informing what to promote, when, and how.
  • Use AI tools to draft engaging social media copy, campaign concepts, and e-commerce content that activates the trends you've identified.
  • Work closely with merchandising, licensing, and sales SMEs assigned to each brand to ensure trend intelligence is flowing into real decisions.
  • Identify opportunities for social-first campaigns that align with emerging cultural moments relevant to FAM's target demographics.
ABOUT YOU
  • A genuine curiosity about fashion, culture, and the factors driving consumer behavior across social platforms.
  • Hands-on experience or a strong interest in data collection — APIs, scraping, or working with social platform data.
  • Working knowledge of Python and/or R for data tasks.
  • Ability to transform raw data into clear, communicable insights that non-technical stakeholders can act on.
  • Comfort using AI tools to accelerate your work — whether for research, writing, content drafting, or analysis.
  • A self-starter mentality: you don't wait for perfect instructions; you take initiative and deliver results.
  • Strong written communication skills — you can craft a concise brief, a compelling campaign concept, or an executive summary with equal clarity.
WHAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND OUT
  • Experience scraping or working with social data (Reddit, Instagram, TikTok, or similar platforms).
  • Familiarity with social media APIs (Meta Graph API, TikTok API, Pinterest API, etc.).
  • Exposure to AI or machine learning tools, even at a learning or experimental stage.
  • Interest in or experience with image analysis, computer vision, or OCR.
  • Background or coursework in data science, communications, fashion, marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience drafting engaging social media content, marketing copy, or campaign briefs.
