Job description

About NDi:
Network Designs, Inc. (NDi) is a leading Federal contractor that specializes in designing, developing, and delivering information technology and network solutions for government customers. Founded in 1985, NDi's firmly defined core values have driven all aspects of the business, which have been paramount to our company's success and the establishment of an enjoyable workplace atmosphere. At NDi, we believe that our people are the cornerstone of our success, and we value collaboration, career growth, and winning ideas. Military Veterans Encouraged to Apply.
Job Description:
NDi is seeking a Senior AI Integrator to lead the end-to-end lifecycle of AI/ML solutions for Civil Engineering operations at Westover Air Reserve Base. This is a high-impact, autonomous role requiring a "full-stack" AI practitioner who can navigate the complexities of data engineering, cloud architecture, and DevOps within secure DoD environments.
The successful candidate will not only build custom neural networks but will also architect the supporting infrastructure for mission-critical applications in contract analysis, energy optimization, and snowfall recovery. This role requires a rare blend of deep technical execution and the ability to translate complex AI workflows for Government stakeholders and Air Force personnel.
Requirements:
  • U.S Citizenship required.
  • This role is fully onsite (5days / week) in Westover Air Reserve Base, Chicopee, MA.
  • No clearance required - just the ability to obtain a military CAC to access the base.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 12+ years of professional experience in software engineering, systems architecture, or data science.
  • Specialized AI Focus: At least 5 years of hands-on experience specifically dedicated to building and deploying custom AI/ML models, with a focus on neural networks and deep learning.
  • Technical Stack Proficiency: AI/ML: TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, and Keras.
  • Big Data: Apache Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, and PostgreSQL.
  • Languages/Frameworks: Advanced Python, Django, Celery, and Linux-based environments.
  • Integrations: REST, GraphQL, and MQTT.
  • Infrastructure & DevOps: Proven experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD workflows, and automated testing within a DevSecOps framework.
  • Communication: Exceptional technical writing skills and the ability to explain complex AI concepts to non-technical operational users.
  • Environment: Experience working in secure and air-gapped environments is highly preferred.

Preferred Candidate Profile:
  • The ideal candidate is a relative veteran of the AI landscape who can operate as a "team of one" when necessary. You should be comfortable moving from high-level architectural design to low-level custom code, with the maturity to manage Government stakeholder expectations and provide independent technical leadership on site.

Responsibilities:
  • AI/ML Engineering: Design, train, optimize, and deploy custom AI/ML models (including deep learning and neural networks) tailored to specific Civil Engineering use cases.
  • Data Engineering: Architect and execute data pipelines - preparing, labeling, cleansing, and validating large-scale structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Systems Architecture: Set up and manage the full development lifecycle, including test and production environments, within approved secure boundaries.
DevSecOps & Integration: Implement CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated testing; manage containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and secure coding practices.
  • Full-Stack Development: Build and maintain well-architected REST/GraphQL services and backend systems using Django and PostgreSQL.
  • Sustainment & Training: Lead software patching, model retraining, and performance monitoring. Conduct recurring monthly training for Air Force personnel to ensure operational adoption.
  • Reporting: Deliver monthly project status reports and provide expert technical representation in briefings and committee meetings.

Compensation and Benefits:
At NDi, we value our team and are committed to retaining top talent by offering competitive benefits and compensation packages. Our Commitment:
Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status or other characteristics protected by law.
