Job description

Who we are
Gatik, the leader in autonomous middle-mile logistics, is revolutionizing the B2B supply chain with its autonomous transportation-as-a-service (ATaaS) solution and prioritizing safe, consistent deliveries while streamlining freight movement by reducing congestion. The company focuses on short-haul, B2B logistics for Fortune 500 retailers and in 2021 launched the world's first fully driverless commercial transportation service with Walmart. Gatik's Class 3-7 autonomous trucks are commercially deployed across major markets, including Texas, Arkansas, and Ontario, Canada, driving innovation in freight transportation.
The company's proprietary Level 4 autonomous technology, Gatik Carrier™, is custom-built to transport freight safely and efficiently between pick-up and drop-off locations on the middle mile. With robust capabilities in both highway and urban environments, Gatik Carrier™ serves as an all-encompassing solution that integrates advanced software and hardware powering the fleet, facilitating effortless integration into customers' logistics operations.
About the role
As an Autonomous Vehicle Test Manager at Gatik, you will lead the development, execution, and validation of vehicle control system testing across the AV stack. You will oversee test strategy, infrastructure, and execution to ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of our autonomous vehicle systems from development through production. This role is onsite in our Denison, TX office.
What you'll do
  • Lead the development and execution of test strategies, procedures, and validation plans to verify the performance of existing and new vehicle systems across the evolving operational domain.
  • Manage and mentor a team of test engineers responsible for vehicle systems validation and test automation.
  • Ensure traceability between system requirements, test cases, and validation results across the development lifecycle.
  • Oversee the troubleshooting and triaging of field issues related to vehicle control systems and coordinate cross-functional debugging efforts.
  • Drive the development of automated testing frameworks and modular test scripts to streamline data collection, analysis, and CI testing pipelines.
  • Ensure seamless integration and validation of controllers, sensors, and actuators with vehicle and autonomous systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to define feature validation strategies, release criteria, and quality gates.
  • Improve and scale testing infrastructure, including HiL, ViL, and vehicle-level validation environments.
  • Lead debugging efforts across hardware and software integration issues and work with cross-functional teams to resolve root causes.
  • Oversee the deployment and validation of software updates at system and subsystem levels, ensuring safety and reliability standards are met.
  • Establish metrics and processes that improve test coverage, test effectiveness, and predictive performance validation.

What we're looking for
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in autonomous vehicle, robotics, or automotive systems testing
  • 2+ years of leadership or technical lead experience managing testing efforts or teams
  • Experience with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet
  • Experience developing and managing test cases, validation plans, and traceability systems using tools such as Jama, Confluence, or JIRA
  • Experience with ROS or similar robotics frameworks
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++
  • Experience designing and deploying test infrastructure across bench, HiL, ViL, and vehicle environments
  • Strong understanding of testing methodologies, debugging workflows, and system integration validation
  • Experience with modern development infrastructure including containers, CPU/GPU architectures, and numerical computing libraries
More about Gatik
Founded in 2017 by experts in autonomous vehicle technology, Gatik has rapidly expanded its presence to Mountain View, Dallas-Fort Worth, Arkansas, and Toronto. As the first and only company to achieve fully driverless middle-mile commercial deliveries, Gatik holds a unique and defensible position in the AV industry, with a clear trajectory toward sustainable growth and profitability.
We have delivered complete, proprietary AV technology - an integration of software and hardware - to enable earlier successes for our clients in constrained Level 4 autonomy. By choosing the middle mile - with defined point-to-point delivery, we have simplified some of the more complex AV challenges, enabling us to achieve full autonomy ahead of competitors. Given extensive knowledge of Gatik's well-defined, fixed route ODDs and hybrid architecture, we are able to hyper-optimize our models with exponentially less data, establish gate-keeping mechanisms to maintain explainability, and ensure continued safety of the system for unmanned operations.
