Job description

About the Company

This is an AI‑native startup building advanced legal automation systems for small and mid‑sized law firms. The team recently raised a Series A, has grown revenue more than 4× in the last four months, and is scaling quickly to meet demand. With a current team of ~15, every engineer plays a defining role in product direction, culture, and technical standards.

The company's AI agents already outperform human lawyers in third‑party evaluations — this is applied AGI work, not toy demos.

About the Role

We're hiring a full‑stack engineer (1–5 years experience) who loves building, shipping, and owning production systems. You'll work across the entire stack — TypeScript, Python, React, Next.js, LLMs, agentic workflows — and ship features that immediately impact real customers.

This is a high‑agency, high‑ownership role where you'll work directly with founders, legal experts, and internal teams to build AI systems that automate real legal workflows.

What You'll Do
  • Ship production‑grade features across the full stack (TypeScript, Python, React, Next.js)
  • Build intuitive UI/UX for AI‑native workflows using LLMs and agentic architectures
  • Prototype and iterate rapidly on zero‑to‑one features
  • Own your work end‑to‑end: design build deploy monitor iterate
  • Contribute to both product engineering and infrastructure
  • Work closely with internal teams to understand workflows and automate them
  • Help set the engineering bar and shape the culture for future hires
Must‑Haves
  • 1–5 years of full‑stack or product engineering experience
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Python
  • Has shipped production‑quality features at a reputable, high‑growth company (Series A+ preferred)
  • Can point to something they've built and are proud of (GitHub, portfolio, personal project)
  • Holds a 4‑year CS degree (or equivalent technical degree)
  • High agency and reliability — able to own problems independently
  • Comfortable working in‑person 5 days/week in NYC
  • Thrives in fast, scrappy, early‑stage environments
Nice‑to‑Haves
  • Experience at high‑growth companies like Figma, Notion, Airtable, etc.
  • Experience with LLM APIs, agentic workflows, or AI‑native product patterns
  • Experience building production frontend with React
  • Prior startup or founding experience
    Compensation & Benefits
    • Competitive base salary
    • 0.5%–1% equity
    • Full health, dental, vision
    • Visa sponsorship available (H‑1B transfers + new applications, OPT, TN)
    • Relocation support to NYC
    Work Environment
    • On‑site 5 days/week in Manhattan
    • High‑agency, high‑ownership culture
    • Fast‑moving, collaborative, and product‑obsessed
    • Engineers work closely with founders and domain experts
    • Expectation of independent execution with minimal hand‑holding
