Position Specific Description

As a New RNG Site Transition and AI Integration Engineer within the Power Generation Division, supporting the Renewable Operations Integration team, you will play a critical role in advancing the digital integration, operational readiness, and long-term performance of NextEra Energy's Renewable Natural Gas and Landfill Gas to Energy assets.

This role is focused on strengthening the data, reporting, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities that support RNG plant operations, maintenance strategy, commissioning handoff, asset onboarding, and fleet reliability. The position combines deep data systems integration with applied analytics, Python-based automation, and AI-driven tools to improve operational visibility, reduce manual workflows, and support better decision-making across RNG facilities.
You will partner closely with Operations Managers, Lead Project Managers, Engineering & Construction, IT, Data & Analytics, contractors, vendors, and field teams to support the transition of RNG assets from construction and commissioning into fully integrated steady-state operations. This includes improving Maximo asset structures, SCADA/EWIS integrations, Ignition and Grafana dashboards, operational KPIs, maintenance data quality, and predictive analytics use cases.

This position offers a unique opportunity to help shape the digital foundation for RNG operations while directly supporting plant reliability, production performance, operational readiness, and continuous improvement across a growing renewable gas fleet.

Key Responsibilities

  • RNG Data Systems & Asset Integration
  • Lead and support the development, validation, and ongoing management of Maximo hierarchies, asset structures, equipment records, preventive maintenance data, and work management information for RNG and LFGTE facilities.
  • Support the onboarding of new and existing RNG assets into enterprise systems, ensuring data alignment across Maximo, SCADA, EWIS, Ignition, Grafana, reporting platforms, and operational dashboards.
  • Partner with site teams and project stakeholders to ensure asset data, maintenance strategies, spare parts information, and system handoff requirements are established prior to startup and steady-state operations.
  • Improve data quality, consistency, and traceability across RNG plant systems, including compressors, gas treatment systems, flares, gas collection systems, balance-of-plant equipment, and supporting infrastructure.

SCADA, EWIS & Dashboard Integration

  • Support validation and stakeholder adoption of Ignition and Grafana dashboards used for RNG operational visibility, performance monitoring, equipment health, downtime analysis, and maintenance planning.
  • Collaborate with SCADA, IT, and operations teams to streamline SCADA and EWIS integration timelines for RNG facilities.
  • Help identify and resolve gaps between project delivery, commissioning data, and long-term operational reporting requirements.
  • Develop and enhance dashboards, reports, and KPIs that improve visibility into gas yield, gas quality, uptime, equipment performance, downtime drivers, and operational readiness.

Python Automation & Data Engineering

  • Design, develop, and maintain Python-based automation tools to improve RNG data validation, onboarding workflows, reporting processes, system checks, and exception management.
  • Build scripts and data pipelines that reduce manual effort and improve consistency in asset onboarding, maintenance data review, SCADA tag validation, and operational reporting.
  • Support ETL processes, API integrations, data modeling, and analytics frameworks that connect field data, enterprise systems, and fleet-level reporting tools.
